It’s pretty clear to the public that rock icon Joan Jett is a lesbian yet everyone is still wondering why she hasn’t publicly come out with it yet. The rocker recently spoke to Spinner magazine and shed some light on that. She says “It really boils down to this: I want to please everybody. I want every guy and every girl thinking that I’m singing these songs to them, because I am. If I make a hard, fast case on where I stand then that takes away a lot of the fantasy. Music entails a lot of fantasy. I want people to be able to go there with me. Some people might think it’s a cop-out. I don’t care. That’s how I feel.”

I had no idea who Joan Jett was really until I started hearing the buzz about this Runaways movie with K-Stew n Dakota Fanning. I literally watched it and had a hard on for K-stew/Joan Jett. She was so omg sexy. I couldnt’ believe it. I found myself wanting to know more about Joan Jett, realizing some classics from my early childhood were sang by Joan. Her pictures were smoking hott. I would have totally dated her; sh*t I’d date her a*s now if I could. I am just surprised I felt so strongly for the movie. Wow.OMg wow.

I think Joan is super talented, very beautiful, and extremely desirable to many people of both sexes. But some of the nonsense I’m reading serves only to perpetuate the hate. And ironically it’s not coming from the people being accused of “gay bashing”. I’ve honestly not heard one single person bash any gay person or the gay lifestyle in this entire thread. I’ve heard many defend gay rights and point fingers at a few people here. But no gay bashing. Punkerdudes comments although lewd and distasteful are in now way gay bashing. Just because he would rather her not be lesbian do that he may “have a chance” to do what his post states does not make him a gay badger. Pervert perhaps, but there’s nothing hateful about being horny. And just because someone says “they know the perfect guy” for Joan, does not mean that all she needs is the right guy to convert her to heterosexuality. Joan is a brilliant woman fully capable of making her own decisions and being with whomever she so chooses. Maybe it is a man, although I doubt it! Either way I wish her happiness and continued success.
But come on people. Let each of us have our opinions without bring chastised by others and accused of gay bashing or hate. It only makes the situation worse when we cannot freely state our opinion. Even when it’s as bold and brash as punkerdude.

I’ve loved Joan since the first time I saw her playing at a hole-in-the-wall and selling records out of the trunk of a car. I’m a straight guy but I will tell everybody that I thought that Joan was the most beautiful, sexiest woman in the world back then (and even now). It does matter what your sexual orientation is, but not that it should effect whether people like your music. You let all your straight male fans down who had a crush on you.
