May i just say ,who ever made this up had absolutly nothing else to do because this is a whole load of rubbish !!
That song “David” sounds so common compared to “Lucky”. Jason Mraz is one of the most Talented song writters there is around lately and don’t even tey anything dodgey agaist him because no one will belive you. On the other hand David’ songwritter just seemed so bored when she wrote that song.. i mean seriously ? David call me ?

wow, you keep saying that she needs to get a life? you’re the fools that read this stuff. i listened to both songs and i have to agree with sonia, the melody does sound a bit alike, but the content is completely different. its arguable, and your wasting your time fighting about it in your stupid comments. jason mraz is talented, very much so, but nellie mckay is too.

No way. Jason is way too cute to be a copycat. I have total faith in him. Btw, I’m not totally going by my hormonal opinion, I listened to the songs. Nellie McCkay’s song sucks like all of her songs and Jason’s is bad ass, like all of his songs. The similarity is very rough. Maybe she just influenced him (yeah right)…

it would be hard to argue this at all because Jason has a strong fan base n if this other peron who ever it is is not very well known then no one would pickup on that. Maybe he simply sampled it which would mean he has permission to use what he wants from the song. from reading what other people say though it seems that David and Lucky are two completly different songs. Oh yeah and by the wy you might want to learn how to use English properly before trying to make a statement. it has more emphasis.

I listened to David and oh my goodness people… get with it. David is crap anyways and in all of this world there comes a time that eventually maybe some people might write similar related wording to anything and everything. Even if Mraz was inspired by that song.. whatever the deal, he made it better. It is better than David and I think people are just completely reach for something to complain about..

I listened personally to the song David by Nellie Mckay and I think that the chorus sounds barely anything like the chorus to Lucky.
I think that it might just be a coincidence that they sound slightly similar. Jason Mraz is a very talented singer/songwriter, so why would he steal songs. If he even needed to steal a song from someone why would it be from a nobody wannabe. He could have stolen from Ben Folds or Chris Daughtry.
Also there are plenty of songs with slightly same sounding music or lyrics. There are even songs with the same name.
Also if this Nellie Mckay thought Mraz stole her music why wouldn’t she do something about it.
To sum up I think it’s very presumtious of you to say he stole a song from someone.

This reminds me of when John Fogerty of Credence Clearwater Revival was sued in his solo years for sounding to much like himself. He wrote a song that had similar beats to an old CCR song. BFD! Music is interconnecteded and one thing inspires another. Some songs sound similar. It is not through copying. Jason Mraz did not copy Nellie McKay. That is just silly.

I take exception to the comment for that nonsense of “Ice, Ice, Baby” though. Everyone knows Vanilla Ice stole that base riff from Queen. To believe otherwise is just plain ignorant.
