Look at the cheeks on the little one! I just want to pinch them. The newest addition to her family has been given the name Salvador Daniel Maida. The dad is super hot musician Raine Maida. Salvador is the third child for the couple. They have two other children, both boys as well named Rowan and Lucca. Chantal says “He is healthy and adorable. I’m trying not to eat him up! Infants are just miraculous.” They truly are.
Singer and songwriter Kate Voegele appeared at a Verizon Wireless store to sign autographs on Wednesday in New York City. She was joined by Natasha Bedingfield and the Veronicas, for whom she’s opening for on tour. The 21-year old Kate was recently spotlighted by Entertainment Weekly as being the best of “the new golden age of female singer-songwriters” while Billboard has hailed her as “An Artist to Watch in ‘08”. The experts are already saying that we’re going to fall in love with Kate this year and after hearing her songs, I’m not doubting them. Kate is definitely going to be big.
R&B style queen Rihanna sat next to her unofficial boy Chris Brown during the 2008 BET Awards which was held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Rihanna arrived at the awards ceremony in style, wearing an eye-catching yellow Giambattista Valli dress. Apart from grabbing a couple awards, Rihanna also performed her latest single ‘Take a Bow’. If you still don’t know what Rihanna’s new should tattoo means, it’s “IV. LXXXVI”, which is the Roman numeral for 4.86, the date of birth of her best friend. Apparently this best friend of hers is “closer than people from her own family’.”
Katy Perry has dethroned Coldplay to take over the spot for the number one song in America. According to Billboard, her infectious ‘I Kissed a Girl’ bumped Coldplay’s ‘Viva La Vida’ at the top of the US singles chart. The song has already been #1 in Canada and is likely to follow suit in other countries once it’s released in Europe in the late summer or early fall. Industry experts have said that Katy should be able to hold on to the top spot for a bit too as her song continues to sell well and is getting tons of airplay. Katy’s debut album ‘One of the Boys’ has also debuted on the Top 10 of the Billboard charts this week. Congratulations!
The Disney Channel’s new Jonas Brothers movie ‘Camp Rock’ debuted to a huge audience on Friday night. The made for TV movie averaged a total of 8.9 million viewers at 8-10 PM which made it the cable network’s second most watched original movie ever. ‘Camp Rock’ came behind ‘High School Musical 2’ with 17.2 million. However, the Jonas’ movie did trump the original ‘High School Musical’ which only debuted to 7.7 million viewers back in January 2006. ‘Camp Rock’ may be getting slammed by reviewers but they didn’t do a shabby job at attracting an audience. I’m pretty sure this will lead to a ‘Camp Rock 2’. Darned capitalists!
Britney Spears is reportedly working on a new album and there’s a Las Vegas twist on it as it is being said that Vegas kingpin George Maloof is behind it. Sources say that the album is being recorded at Maloof’s Palms Casion in Las Vegas and that former manager Larry Rudolph, who’s been back in the picture for a while, is producing the album. Maloof is trying his best to extend his arm into the music industry and is also behind Ali Lohan’s upcoming album. If he really wants to be part of the industry, supporting those two acts isn’t really the right way to do it.

As he sang “Indian Outlaw”, a bit of chaos broke out near the front. Apparently Tim saw an aggressive male fan hit a female fan, and Tim didn’t take took kindly to that. He yelled, “Get rid of this guy! Security!”
But security didn’t move fast enough for Tim, so he grabbed the guy, pulled him on stage, and held him until they could get him. Needless to say, he was escorted from the concert.
Michelle Branch is taking a break from her music career so you’re not going to be able to find her hanging out at any recording studios but according to new reports, the country singer now has a new place to hang out in the form of a bakery called The Sugar Bar in Nashville, Tennessee. Michelle says that it’s an old-fashioned bakeshop and bar where you can grab a drink and a slice of Bourbon Chocolate Cake after dinner. She goes on to say “Besides music, one of my dreams has always been to open a bakery.” Her business is also local friendly as she plans to support local farmers by using their butter, milk, eggs and fruit.
Pop singer Charlotte Church and rugby player Gavin Henson just announced that they’re expecting another baby. Charlotte’s official website announced “Charlotte Church and Gavin Henson are delighted to announce that they are expecting another baby. The couple are thrilled, as are their immediate families. Meanwhile, Charlotte has confirmed that she will fulfill her commitment to Channel 4 to present the third [season] of ‘The Charlotte Church Show’ in July and August of this year.” Congratulations to the Church-Henson family. Their first child just turned 9 months on Friday. Hopefully, Charlotte will have a son this time so she can have one of each and not have to get pregnant anytime soon after.
Celine Dion is getting on her architect for not knowing much about geometry. The singer hired Florida architect Randall Stofft in 2005 to build her a $3 million Jupiter Island home complete with an octagonal living room. Stofft saw it differently and Celine said he refused to build the house she wanted. According to the Palm Beach Post, the house is still unfinished up to now which is why Celine has filed suit asking for a quarter million in damages. It’s one of those cases where the customer is always right. Heck, he’s going to be paid regardless if Celine’s vision was a mess. It was her idea that she’s paying for anyway. He should have just followed orders if you ask me.

The wedding party was made up of the couple’s seven children and 130 of their close family and friends as witnesses to the occasion. The couple met when they were both seeking spiritual counseling from a minister after their first marriages ended in divorce. Let’s hope this one works or they might end up fighting over who gets to go to that minister.

According to reports, Coldplay’s new album ‘Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends’ has sold 125,000 copies during its first day out in the UK. With those numbers, the album is expected to take over the top spot on the UK album chart very easily. Why? To be honest, I’m not a big fan of the album. I think it sucks. There are even rumors that one of their songs, ‘Viva La Vida’ was actually copied off from an unknown UK band. Tsk. Add the fact that Chris Martin has gone diva on us, it just made me not like it more.
The Jonas Brothers have taken over the cover of the new issue of Billboard. In their interview, they talked about their new album, writing songs and even Jonas mania. Of the new album, they spoke of the singles being reminiscent of Maroon 5, Justin Timberlake and even early Weezer. Joe talked about writing the songs saying “Pretty much we were writing all these songs when we were on tour, and we didn’t have time to go into a studio and record. There’s a lot of time when you’re on the tour bus where there’s a lot of waiting around. We have like four hours in each day where we could really do something.” Nick adds his experience saying “When we’re writing together, we’re really open to each other’s ideas, which I think is really important when you’re writing songs. No one can be closed-minded, because then nothing is going to work. For us, it’s really just one of our passions. It’s kind of our roots.”
Jessica Simpson wants to sing country music for ‘the rest’ of her life. The 27-year-old singer – whose career rocketed after she appeared on MTV reality show ‘Newlyweds’ with now ex-husband Nick Lachey – loved making her debut country record so much she never intends to return to pop music.
She said: “I’m planning on making country music for the rest of my life, and I don’t want to go back to that other world.”
Jessica also revealed she has heard mixed reviews for the first single ‘Come On Over’, from the as-yet-untitled LP, but is determined not to give up.
She added: “A lot of people have listened to ‘Come On Over’ and told me, ‘I really wanted to hate it, but I like it. It’s a backhanded compliment, but I’m glad it’s that way and not the other way around! I take a lot of pride in my talent and in the record I was able to put together. I’m not giving up.”

When asked of what she thought of Katy’s song, Jill said “I don’t feel precious about the title, but I’ve gotten tons of e-mails from annoyed fans. Some think it’s more of a ‘Girls Gone Wild’ thing than anything shocking or empowering to true gay feelings…Maybe I’ll write a third ‘I Kissed a Girl’ for fun. It will be about how I kissed her, left the dull boyfriend, got gay-married in California, and really no one gave a s—.”
Madonna prefers making movies to music. The ‘4 Minutes’ singer - who made her directing debut with this year’s ‘Filth and Wisdom’ - admits she gets more pleasure from films because she has more time to express herself.
She said: “I prefer movies because you have more time to tell a story. You have an hour-and-a-half or two to save the world.”

Kurt Cobain’s ashes have been stolen from his widow, Courtney Love. The late singer’s ashes were taken from Love’s Los Angeles home. They were kept in a pink bear shaped bag along with a lock of his hair. Clothes and jewellery were also taken.
Love is reportedly distraught saying that “They were all I had left of my husband. I used to take them everywhere with me just so I could feel Kurt was still with me. Now it feels like I have lost him all over again.”
Some of Cobain’s ashes were scattered near his Washington State home, some at a Buddhist temple, and Courtney keeping the rest.
