‘Rescue Me’ star Denis Leary has just been named as the host of the 5th Anniversary of Fashion Rocks at Radio City Music Hall which takes place on September 5th. The proceeds from this year’s concert will benefit Stand Up to Cancer. More performers have also been added to a very stellar line up including the likes of Chris Cornell, OneRepublic, Pussycat Dolls, Solange Knowles and Timbaland, with special guest Lynyrd Skynyrd. Previously announced performers include Beyoncé, Black Eyed Peas, Chris Brown, Duffy, Fergie, Justin Timberlake, Keith Urban, Kid Rock, Lil Wayne, Mariah Carey and Rihanna. The show will air on September 9 in a two-hour special at 9PM ET/PT on CBS.
Danity Kane has a new video out called ‘Bad Girl’ which also features Missy Elliot. The video is for the second track from their sophomore album ‘Welcome to the Dollhouse’. The video which was directed by Erik White has a very comic book feel to it. And since it’s a Danity Kane video, we can’t forget about their trademark hot dance moves. Add this little bit of info too, Day26’s Que and Laguna Beach’s Talan Torriero also make cameos in the vid. I wonder who Talan’s linked to that got him a spot on the video. I don’t think there would have been a shortage of models that would show up for the girls.
Miley Cyrus was on NBC’s The Today Show on Friday morning for a performance as well as a little interview with the show’s kid correspondent Bailey Monte. She talked about going out with friends and dating boys. She says “It’s kinda hard when I’m out with my friends and stuff; my friends are, you know, wantin’ to just hang out.” When Bailey asked if she had a boyfriend she answered laughingly with a no but then added that she was looking. She adds “It is hard when you are hanging out with guys, even guys that are just your friends. It’s automatically your boyfriend, because that’s what the media thinks. I think it’s good if you can be able to have guy and girl friends that, you know, understand you … and it stinks when we go out; people automatically think we’re together.”
Despite losing her kids, her mind and her weave in the past year, Britney Spears is still a fan favorite. It’s being said that the recovering starlet will be an MTV VMA nominee for Best Female Video for her less than stellar ‘Piece of Me’. She may be a case of 5150 but for some, she’s still number 1. Who knew? But I think people are recognizing the effort she’s making. If anything, if the nomination rumor is true, it might even help her out by getting some confidence back in her. Maybe that’s just my wishful thinking but everyone gets another chance right?
Ryan Cabrera has released a new album independently. Ironically enough, the singer’s new record is actually on Joe Simpson’s record label. Ryan once dated Ashlee Simpson. Anyway, no one really cares. Boxscore reports that Ryan played a concert with musician Ferras at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus, Ohio on June 18th. The venues capacity is 1,200. Ryan was only able to sell 177 tickets. That’s a big kick to the butt. Even Avril Lavigne does better than that and everyone pretty much hates her. Can we blame this on the Simpson curse or do we just not like Ryan?
Maroon 5 star Adam Levine loves playing pranks on tour.
The frontman admits he has a penchant for joking around with support bands, and revealed he once hired male strippers to embarrass The Donnas. He revealed: “We were on tour with The Donnas, and we were partying backstage and we hired male strippers. So these male cheeseball strippers came in and the Donnas were panicking. These guys kind of looked like cops, enough to fool them. Once everyone realised they were strippers, one of the guys plugged in the music to start dancing, and by then everyone was over it, and it was extraordinarily uncomfortable!”
Adam recently revealed he uses yoga to stay in shape while he is on the road with Maroon 5. He said: “Yoga is by far the most convenient way to exercise when I’m on tour. You don’t need anything but a few feet of space and a mat.”
British singer Leona Lewis poses with a stuffed elephant in support of The Elephant Project, an organization to raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association. The organization was started by David Niederhoffer after his grandfather passed away from Alzheimer’s disease. With the popular phrase that elephants never forget, Niederhoffer is striving for those affected by the disease to never forget. Well-known celebrities pose with an elephant beanie baby and sign an Elephant Project card which are then auctioned off to raise money. Celebrities who have gotten involved include Zac Efron, Adam Sandler, Julie Andrews, James Marsden, Julianne Moore and Jennifer Garner.
Rihanna’s new music video for her single ‘Disturbia’ was recently released. The video was directed by Anthony Mandler. There’s definitely a disturbing aspect to the video but it’s really fun. The Barbadian beauty’s new video will debut o MTV’s TRL ad BET’s 106 and Park on Thursday, July 24th and on VH1 on Saturday, July 26th. I don’t know about you but I’m pretty disturbed at the sight of the singing sensation being blonde. Hopefully, she wouldn’t catch whatever it was that made Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen dye their hair blonde. Rihanna looks best au naturelle in my opinion.
Nelly and Ashanti are ‘definitely very much still together’.
The ‘Hot in Here’ rapper and ‘Foolish’ singer – who have been romantically linked since 2003 – are still reported to be dating, despite rumours they had split up earlier this month.
Reports their relationship had ended emerged when Ashanti was quoted as saying, “I’m dating my new album, and no-one else”, but the 27-year-old singer has since insisted she was misquoted.
A source close to the couple said: “Nelly and Ashanti are very happy. They are definitely very much still together.”
Earlier this year, Ashanti hinted she wanted to marry the 33-year-old musician. When asked if she was engaged to Nelly, Ashanti held up her left hand to show a bare ring finger and laughed: “Oh no. Noooo! No engagement. But definitely in the future. Ha ha!”
She added: “Me and Nelly, we’re good friends. We kick it – hang out a lot. The industry is very hard, so it’s good to have fun and lighten it up.”
Earlier this week, it was claimed Nelly was dating British soul singer Joss Stone, who was said to be “smitten” with the rapper. The reports have not been confirmed.
Jessica Simpson was booed during her first country music concert at the weekend.
The 28-year-old blonde launched her new sound at the Country Thunder Festival in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, on Saturday night but the show didn’t go well.
As well as showcasing material from her forthcoming album Jessica – who was dressed in tiny shorts, cowboy boots and a tight white shirt – also performed covers of country tracks including Willie Nelson’s ‘On the Road Again’ and Shania Twain’s ‘Who’s Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?’, but the unimpressed audience heckled the singer throughout.
One spectator, Adam Matos, claimed she ‘wasn’t good enough’. He said: “I just don’t hear the country in her. I don’t hear the twang. She’s not good enough to be here.”
Jessica – who is dating American football player Tony Romo – tried to win over the crowd between songs, saying: “I don’t know what your perception is of Jessica Simpson or what tabloid you buy, but I just want you to know that I’m just a girl from Texas. I’m just like you. I’m doing what I love and dating a boy.”
Critics also failed to be won over by the performance, with one noting: “Many audience members found her attempt to crossover into country irritating and that her vocals lacked a southern sound.”
Jessica recently revealed she wants to make country music for ‘the rest’ of her life.
Britney Spears will spend the summer working on her new album. The ‘Toxic’ singer has been “having fun” in the recording studio and is delighted with the songs she has created so far.
Britney’s manager Larry Rudolph said: “She is spending her summer in the recording studio, working on a brand new album. She’s working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters, and we’re very excited about what she’s accomplished so far. No album release date has been confirmed yet. She’s giggly in the studio. Some days she’ll go in and get nothing done. Some times she’ll just play around a little bit.”
Rudolph also says Britney, 26, is totally focused on her music and despite having fun, she is committed to getting her life back on track. He explained: “She’s the type of person who has the eye of the tiger. She has got people around her that really care about her and are there to point her in the right direction in respect to the things she should be concentrating on – her life.”
After losing custody of her two sons Sean Preston and Jayden James to ex-husband Kevin Federline following her hospitalization in January, Britney has cleaned up her act and is set to soon regain joint custody.

But by that time, I’m sure she would have already changed her mind because who knows what diseases Miley will have by then.
Rihanna rocked out in a stylish zip-up jumpsuit at the MTV Mobile Bang Concert which was held at Milan Central Station on Tuesday in Milan, Italy. The 20-year old singing sensation performed her smash hit single ‘Umbrella’ as well as a song written by Terius ‘The Dream’ Nash and Christopher ‘Tricky’ Stewart called ‘Breakin’ Dishes’. The Barbadian beauty is really going all over the place isn’t she? She was in Africa last week, then Milan and then back to California this week. Where is she going next? Timbuktu? I wouldn’t be surprised if she somehow gets spotted in Antarctica at the rate she’s going.
Jessica Simpson should “work hard and be authentic”, says country singer Jewel.
Jewel – who has sold over 27 million albums worldwide – advised Jessica, 28, to “be true” to herself when her debut country record hits stores in September.
She said: “I really like Jessica. She’s always been such a sweet, sweet person. If I were going to give her any advice, I would say work hard and be authentic. Be true to who you are. The thing about country music is its fans have an excellent authenticity meter. They can spot bulls**t a mile away. Anyone who comes to country music just to dabble in it, or who doesn’t know it or respect it as a genre and respect its history and tradition, is not going to make it.”
Jessica recently revealed the record is not just a passing phase, and she wants to sing country music for “the rest” of her life.
She said: “I’m planning on making country music for the rest of my life, and I don’t want to go back to that other world. I take a lot of pride in my talent and in the record I was able to put together. I’m not giving up.”
It was recently revealed Jessica’s as-yet-untitled LP will be released in the US on September 9.
Whitney Houston’s voice was almost destroyed by drugs. Following years of heavy smoking and drug abuse, Whitney’s singing was reportedly ‘unrecognizable’ when she began recording her new album.
A source said: “She was smoking a lot and taking a lot of drugs. Her voice was almost unrecognizable.”
Whitney – once dubbed ‘The Voice’ for her five octave range – was sent for singing lessons by industry executive Clive Davis and is now back to her high-note best. The source added: “Thousands have been shelled out to train her back up to the original. But now she sounds terrific – she is going to blow everybody away.”
Whitney’s new, as yet untitled comeback album, is set for a November release.

Juliette Lewis is being a bad ass. She’s probably one of the few actresses turned singers that I still have a semblance of respect for. The rocker performed with her band, Juliette Lewis and the Licks, at the Exit Festival which was held in Serbia on Saturday. You have to hand it to her. She may not be a mainstream artist but she’s doing her best to rock the world one country at a time. She must be a good performer if she’s got a global audience – no matter how small it may be. Black Eyed Peas’ rapper Taboo got married on Saturday. The musician – who turns 33 today – tied the knot with Jaymie Dizon in front of family and friends including his bandmate Fergie and her fiance Josh Duhamel in an intimate ceremony at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Pasadena, California.
Taboo, real name Jaime Gomez, asked fellow Black Eyed Peas stars will.i.am and Apl.de.ap to serve as groomsmen at the ceremony, while his best friend Polo Molina was the best man.
Looking smart in a grey suit, white shirt and tie and matching sunglasses, Taboo smiled as Jaymie entered the church wearing a floor-length v-neck dress and veil.
As they left the church, the couple showed off their matching platinum and diamond rings. Jaymie’s diamond engagement ring was bought from exclusive jewelery store Neil Lane.
Taboo is set to release his debut solo album later this year, and also appears in action movie ‘Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li’.
Mark Ronson has hinted he once turned down a sexual proposition from Joss Stone.
During an interview in Holland the Grammy award-winning producer was asked if he’s slept with any artists he has worked with. Mark replied: “I’m not the sort of producer that shags every artist he works with.”
Then he said: “I’ve had enough offers, but I’m very picky. I’ve said no to a very famous, white, bland and very boring English soul chick, whom shall remain unnamed.”
When the interviewer threw the name of barefooted Joss into the ring, Mark gave a grin and a wink.
