You Thought So!

Just like Cher, Tina Turner will live on. Divas just don’t go quietly you know? 8 years after her so-called farewell tour, Tina got back on stage in Kansas City to kick off her 36-date tour. In attendance were Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama. Tina told the crowd “It never stopped. People want to see you live. Even Sophia Loren asked me, ‘When are you going back to work? You were born with a gift. You have a responsibility.’ She made me feel like it was a duty. Those Italians work forever.” The almost 69-year old added “I started when I was 20. To be home and out of the business felt good. I didn’t miss the press, the lack of privacy, living in hotels. I wouldn’t want to diminish my credibility, so if I’m ever going to do it, now is the time. I’m in shape. And once I saw some of the Bob Mackie costumes, I started getting excited.”

Getting old can really be a bummer. Janet Jackson’s reps refuse to comment on the reason why the singer was briefly hospitalized in Montreal which resulted in the cancellation of her concert. Leave it to Jermaine Dupri to yap. He says “A 42-year-old body can’t handle what a 22-year-old body can. I can tell you that she’s definitely tired. It was probably exhaustion. She is doing back-to-back, three-hour shows, and her body isn’t the same as it used to be.” Maybe Madonna can give her some tips. But I think Janet is merely looking to get out of her tour. Many arenas and shows are barely half full and a show of her scale costs a lot of money to put on. Maybe they’re about to pull the plug.
