The obsession of a 30-year old woman for American Idol judge Paula Abdul finally ended, albeit tragically. Paula Goodspeed, who tried her luck for American Idol’s fifth season with the song “Proud Mary”, was found dead Tuesday night outside the house of Paula Abdul. Her body was however identified by her relatives on Wednesday morning.

Abdul, who was reportedly not home during the incident, has already released a statement and her publicist Jeff Ballard said Abdul is “deeply shocked and saddened” about the incident.

Relatives, who have not seen Goodspeed since 11 p.m, Monday and who were concerned about the possibility of Goodspeed hurting herself, already reported her disappearance Tuesday afternoon. The authorities said Goodspeed’s mother told them they might be able to find her daughter near Abdul’s home. The police who responded to the call went to the Sherman Oaks area and found her body. Julianne Sohn, police spokesperson, said it looked like suicide.

Reports show that Goodspeed overdosed, a year ago, in the same and exact area where she has been found dead. Goodspeed was allegedly suffering from extreme mental illness which became out of control over the last two years. Abdul got frightened by Goodspeed’s apparent obsession with her that she reported the case to the Los Angeles Police District’s Threat Management Division.

Finally, she has gotten not only Paula Abdul’s attention but a lot of people’s as well!
