Katy Perry wants to make things clear regarding reports that quoted her as saying that she was abstaining from sex for a year. The singer says that it was meant only as a joke and that it was taken out of context. Katy said “That was a joke! And any fine journalist would have gotten that joke and inserted that in the context. I’m not going to be celibate, I guess I’m just going to be looking for the right one. But please! Celibacy for a whole year?! I’d rather die!” At least she’s not hypocritical about it. She also said “That’s just how the media works. I’m a continual prankster and a jokester, and people forget that you have to interpret that if I’m telling a joke.”
Jonas Brothers are set to release the Soundtrack to their new movie, “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience” on February 24th, three days before the film is slated to hit 3D theaters across the nation. The soundtrack includes old favorites like “Hold On” and “S.O.S” as well as live performances with Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato, a Shania Twain cover, and one new, never-before-heard studio recording called “Love Is On Its Way.” The highly anticipated film goes behind-the-scenes with Kevin, Joe and Nick on last year’s Burning Up Tour, following their every move along the way. 2008 was a record breaking year for Jonas Brothers where they took home six Teen Choice Awards, starred in Camp Rock, went platinum with their #1 debuting “A Little Bit Longer,” released “Burnin’ Up,” and became the youngest group to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone. The New Year has already proven to be a continuation of their hot streak with a performance at the Kids’ Inaugural Concert in D.C. and an upcoming performance on the Grammys where they are nominated for Best New Artist.

It has been announced that the newly released “Shout” video from thrashers BLACK TIDE will be featured on mtvU’s new artist show, The Freshman. The show spotlights emerging artists both on air and online, with a chance for one of the competing videos to get an automatic add into rotation on the channel the following week. The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus have just world-premiered their upcoming album, Lonely Road on their MySpace profile. The Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, All-American Rejects) produced album is the follow-up to their platinum selling Don’t You Fake It album which came out in 2006.
The band is also giving away a free download of their new song “Pen and Paper” on their fan site The Alliance.

Chris Cornell’s long-awaited Timbaland produced album, Scream, is reaching stores on 3/10. Chris has been keeping busy rehearsing with his new band and talking with his fans on his blog to gear up for the release. The front man hasn’t picked up an electric guitar since the break-up of his legendary group Soundgarden back in the late 90’s, but according to his latest blog entry on ChrisCornell.com, he’s thinking of busting them out for his upcoming tour:
“Hi people. Here is an open question. Since I got my guitars back I have been considering playing guitar live again. Who thinks I should pick it up again? I play guitar all day every day as I am always working on new songs. Let me know if you think I should hit it live. The king is dead. God save the king.”

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony turned up the attention whoring factor with their blatant public display of affection at the Western Ball last Tuesday night in Washington, DC. The couple even performed a duet while gazing into each other’s eyes and kissing at the end. Singing ‘She Sang to Me’, Marc even claimed that the song was written for his wife. I think that’s a little bit over-doing it. You want people to believe that you’re not divorcing and not more suspicious as to why you’re acting way too sweetly towards each other. I’m willing to bet that they went back to their hotel room and stayed at opposite corners.
This is so typical of so many Hollywood celebrities to stake claim that they paved the way for the success of today’s stars’ and the latest to join the bandwagon of self preaching celebrities is Paula Abdul who says she is behind the success of Rihanna & Beyonce.
She says, “My videos stand the test of time. They are like the almanac for every performer. Even Rhianna has come up to me and said ‘I hope you don’t mind.’ And Beyonce You can see the influence of what I’ve done. It’s really fun to see that I’ve left a mark. It was my idea to create an animated character. It takes a lot of focus, a lot time, and a lot of money.”
I won’t be too critical of her cos’ I have heard her song “Straight Up” and it is one of the BEST songs & I STILL dance to it! But ok even if you have done some good work and created new path for the new generation just stop claiming that you’re the messiah. When someone states something like that for publicity, they are taking a chance of being laughed at!
Jewel is taking a departure from her country singing and is working on an album of original lullabies. Yes, it’s an album of all new songs just for the babies to listen to at bedtime but is more fitting for adults. The upcoming record is a return to the simple and acoustic folk sound of Jewel’s breakthrough first album ‘Pieces of You’. If you can make your way around the internet, you can find one of her new songs called ‘Raven’. And it’s exactly the type of song that Jewel used to do but with a more mature tone to it.
The pre-inaugural concert for President Barack Obama may have been star-studded but there are still celebrities who managed to stand out in the crowd. Garth Brook’s rendition of “Shout” was one of the most memorable and well=participated number thanks to the support of red and blue-wearing choir who inspired the crowd to throw their hands up in the air. However, one of the most memorable numbers would be Brook’s “American Pie” which made Obama sing along. The concert was a night to remember with astounding personalities like the 89-year old folk singer Pete Seeger who sang “This Land is Your Land”, Shakira who sang “Higher Ground” as well as Stevie Wonder, Sheryl Crow and Usher.
The stage was not just limited to singers though as golf great Tiger Woods, whose father is a military man, encouraged the crowd to remember the many sacrifices of the family members of military men who have served their country well. Obama’s administration showed it stood up for the minority when it chose the first openly gay Episcopal Bishop V. Gene Robinson to lead the convocation. Robinson rallied the crowd to understand that Obama is not a messiah but a human being. But everything is far from over after the serious speeches because next came the turn of Bruce Springsteen. The President however reminded the up to half a million crowd who joined the concert about the enormity of the task that lies ahead.
