Metallica won’t strike a deal with Live Nation

Metallica’s Lars Ulrich has said that the group will not take clue from U2 and will not sign a deal with concert promoters Live Nation, he insists that such a deal is equal to “sell out.” Irish rock band U2 were the first high profile band/group to sing with Live Nation. The deal between Live Nation and U2 is worth $100 million.
Live Nation has since then signed big names like Madonna, Shakira and Jay-Z and as part of the deal Live Nation will act as the record label for such artist plus look after other sponsorships, merchandising and concert promotion. Lars Ulrich is in no mood to hand over the control of band to Live Nation insisting that they are not giving anything that rockers require.
Speaking on the issue Ulrich says, “We haven’t sold out to Live Nation, and we are certainly not planning on it. And we are very, very fortunate that we do not need what they offer to continue to be who we are.”
Yes man since when have bands such as Metallica needed a massive backing to release their music, their music already sells handsomely and we all know they are amongst the best in the business. So why ever sell out. Others who have sold out have money rather than music on their agenda.
