Acclaimed Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed has urged the government of India to honour Michael Jackson posthumously – by issuing a postage stamp.

According to Zed, who is the president of the Universal Society of Hinduism, entertainment icon Jacko had a special bond with India and Hinduism.

According to reports, Jackson was reading India’s first Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s poems during the last days of his life.

When Oscar-winner and Indian musician A R Rahman of Slumdog Millionaire fame met Jackson after the Academy Awards ceremony a few months ago, in Los Angeles, the singer reportedly asked him to compose a unity anthem for his new album.

Rahman also collaborated with Jacko on a track, Ekam Satyam, in 1999, and the superstar was also working with Bollywood musician Adnan Sami, on an album before he died.

“Michael’s personal life might had been controversial, but he did provide joy to a large populace of the world through his music,” said Zed.

AEG, the promoters of Michael Jackson’s London shows, has promised a full refund for tickets to the late King of Pop’s concert dates. However, not everyone will be getting their money back as the promoters will only be providing refunds if you bought your tickets through an authorized dealer. In a statement, AEG promised “the refunds will be processed by each of the authorised ticket agencies (e.g. Ticketmaster, Viagogo, See or Ticketline).” The statement also said that fans “will have the option to be sent the actual tickets” for the show. That’s one very expensive keepsake if you ask me.

Michael Jackson’s pal David Gest has revealed he tried to warn the star against having so much plastic surgery.

David, 56, was a close friend of Michael’s and he said the star got “obsessed” with the idea of plastic surgery.

He said: “Michael and I had always felt insecure about the way we looked. Michael became obsessed with the idea of having plastic surgery. He would say to me: ‘Don’t you want to look better?’”

Like Michael, David also had a number of plastic surgery operations and he revealed he later regretted his surgery during the Eighties but Michael still wanted more.

He said: “I begged him not to have any more. I said: ‘Your nose is perfect.’ But the plastic surgeon we were using kept encouraging him to have more procedures.

“I believe he was just trying to keep the relationship going with Michael, but he wasn’t being honest with him. Even his family tried to say enough is enough.

“This guy made a fortune on my nose, Michael’s nose, Janet’s nose and LaToya’s nose. Tito and Jackie were smart, they left their noses alone.”

Michael Jackson has broken a record for fastest one-day sales with his Number Ones album just days after his sudden death.

The 50-year-old legend passed away on June 26 after he reportedly suffered a heart attack.

However, it has now been reported that there has been an 80-fold increase in demand for the star’s Number Ones album and it has now shot from 121 to number one in the UK.

His single Man In The Mirror was at number 11 in the recent UK charts show and five of the King of Pop’s albums were in the top 20.

A spokesman for HMV said: “We’ve never seen anything like it. The demand for Michael Jackson hits has just been phenomenal – even more than when Elvis, John Lennon and Freddie Mercury died.

“It’s the greatest one-day sales for any artist’s album ever.”

Mexican pop superstar Paulina Rubio’s Miami home was broken into recently and the alleged burglar only took two very important things – her house keys and a remote control to her front gate. That’s creepy. According to the official police report, cops “noticed doors to the home wide open … and footprints within the home”. Thankfully, the singer was out of town when the incident happened. The documents also said that cops couldn’t tell if anything was actually stolen but were later informed of the loss of the keys and remote control. A watch order has been placed over the property due to the creepiness of what items were stolen. Cops are waiting to get their hands on a copy of Rubio’s surveillance tapes.

The Jonas Brothers are featured on the July cover of Rolling Stone to discuss the band and address all the haters. Kevin talked about their music credibility saying “I think we are working to make that trade without having to give anything up. But I think it will take time, because of where we came from. I would honestly say to anybody, if you were in a band like us, you would take advantage of those platforms too. It’s easy for people to say, ‘No, I’m a real rock & roller,’ but I think you do what you’ve got to do.” Joe talked about haters saying “Personally, I’m not in the band to say, ‘Hey, you need to respect us, take us seriously,’ because that’s kind of stupid. LeAnn Rimes is complaining to anyone who will listen about the pressures of being in the media spotlight. That’s what happens when you’re a public figure and when you cheat on your husband with your co-star. The country singer turned Lifetime TV star recently told Shape magazine “I feel like people are looking and pointing at me like I’m in a fishbowl. I’ve learned to let it roll off my back, but it’s super hard, and it really hurts. I’ve been in the public eye since I was 14, so I have a tough skin. It’s fine dragging me through the mud, but don’t drag my loved ones through it.”

A desperate man told an emergency responder Michael Jackson was unconscious and had stopped breathing in a dramatic 911 call made from the King of Pop’s home.

The unidentified caller told the operator Jackson’s personal doctor – named in reports as Dr Conrad Murray – was on the scene and was the only witness to the incident.

In the tape, released a day after Jackson’s death, the man says: “I need an ambulance as soon as possible. We have a gentleman here who needs help and who is not breathing and we’re trying to pump him but he’s not…

In the call, made at 12.21pm local time on Wednesday, he tells the operator: “Yes, he’s not breathing sir.”

Asked if Jackson was conscious, he replies: “No, he’s not conscious.”

He says Jackson is on a bed and is told to put him on the floor for CPR.

The man says: “We have a personal doctor here with him.”

But he adds: “He’s not responding to anything. He’s not responding to CPR or anything.”

The operator asks if anyone saw what happened to Jackson and the man replies: “No, just the doctor. The doctor’s been the only one here.”

The operator asks: “OK, so did the doctor see what happened?”

The man is then heard asking the doctor: “Did you see what happened?”

There is some background noise before the man urges the operator: “Sir, please, if you can please….”

He tells the operator: “He’s pumping, pumping his chest but he’s not responding to anything.”

The operator reassures him: “OK, we’re on our way.”

It appears that the singer has managed to find a personal cure for this age-old disease that has been plaguing mankind for millennia. After falling ill in Milan, Italy during her tour, the singer apparently managed to make herself feel better, interpret this as you may, by bathing and eating pizza. Altruistic by nature, Katy Perry decided to share this with the rest of the world by posting a picture of herself in those circumstances on twitter and accompanying it with the following post: “Why is it that after not eating for three days all i can think of is food… food is smiling at me… luring me with sexual seduction” Yep… you have to watch out for those seducing pizzas… they’re deadly when left to play their game!

Michael Jackson’s sister La Toya was seen running into UCLA Medical Centre screaming “oh my God”, it is claimed.

Michael passed away aged 50 after a reported heart attack at his home in LA.

An onlooker said: “She looked devastated and just broke down. It was really sad to see her as she put her head in her hands. She and Michael were very close indeed and regularly spoke on the phone. It really is tragic news and you have to feel for the whole family.”

Michael had been gearing up to perform 50 dates at London’s O2 Arena and a source claims the star was “overdoing things” as he struggled to train for the shows.

A source said: “He had been so frail, both physically and emotionally. Many warned he was pushing too hard and overdoing things, but he wanted to get back to work so badly. He kept pushing himself harder and harder. He didn’t want to let down his fans, and he desperately needed the cash.”

Michael Jackson’s attorney says he warned his entire family that one day the superstar could “wake up dead” because of his life-threatening use of painkillers.

Brian Oxman, Jackson family attorney, said he voiced grave fears that the King of Pop could suffer the same fate as tragic Playboy model Anna Nicola Smith, who died from overdosing on prescription drugs in 2007.

“I said to them (his family members) that if this situation arises where Michael Jackson perishes because of medications – my words were that if one day he wakes up and he’s dead because of these medications – I will not hold my tongue, I will speak out and I will speak out loud.

“I had warned everyone. I said one day, we’re going to have this experience. And when Anna Nicole Smith passed away, I said we cannot have this kind of thing with Michael Jackson.

“I don’t know what caused his death, but I feared this day and here we are.”

Oxman said Jackson’s use of painkillers started back in 1984 after his hair accidentally set alight while filming a TV commercial.

“It caused him such pain, he didn’t like to feel discomfort so he started taking pain medications then.

“He also fell off a stage and cracked a vertebrae in his back, and he also broke his leg.

“Those two things were constant sources of pain, they made him fall down it was so painful and he took the medications because of that pain. It became part of his life.”

The 50-year-old musical superstar died on Thursday, just as he was preparing for a series of 50 concerts starting July 13 at London’s 02 arena.

The brother of Michael Jackson last night revealed doctors and paramedics spent an hour trying to revive the pop star.

Jermaine Jackson held a news conference at UCLA Medical Centre just hours after his brother died at the age of 50.

He told how medical staff had attempted to resuscitate the King of Pop before finally declaring him dead.

Jermaine said: “My brother, the legendary King of Pop Michael Jackson, passed away on Thursday June 25 2009 at 2.26pm.

“It is believed that he suffered cardiac arrest in his home. However, the cause of his death is unknown until the coroner results of the autopsy are known.

“His personal physician, who was with him at the time, he attempted to resuscitate my brother. And as did the paramedics who transported him Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Centre.

“Upon arriving at the hospital at approx 1.14pm a team of doctors including emergency physicians and cardiologist attempted to resuscitate him for over an hour. They were unsuccessful.

Mariah Carey is reportedly in talks to star in a play in London’s West End. What? Is she not brave enough to show off her so-called acting chops in the US? A source said “She was hugely flattered to have been asked and is determined to nail the part… she is pretty confident in her own abilities. And although there’s been talk of musicals, Mariah has always wanted to star in a play so this really is a dream come true.” The singer has taken several meetings with a top theatre producer who offered her a $30,000-a-week contract! Has that producer not seen any of her movies? Mariah should make her stage debut next spring.

Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am thinks Cheryl Cole will “definitely” have a hit solo career in the US.

The 34-year-old singer worked with Cheryl, 25, on their collaborative track Heartbreaker in 2008 and has also worked on some other tracks with the British Girls Aloud star.

He said: “We did two songs and we’re getting back together to do two more in July. Cheryl is a sweetheart, I really like working with her. We did this one song and it was ‘wow’. It was great.”

He added: “I didn’t want to play it for anybody in our group or our record company because they would have said: ‘Why don’t we do that song?’

“It’s a big, big record, but I didn’t want it on our album because this one is a little slower. It’s a beautiful song, and she sang it great.”

Cheryl is reportedly planning to release more solo tracks away from her band Girls Aloud, and he admitted her US career will definitely take off.

He said: “Definitely. We started off with a really mega tune, and now the bar is set high. We’re going to have some really cool tunes.

“That’s a clue of how to make Cheryl dope all over the world – by being creative with infectious melodies.”

The pop singer will be taking her new daughter on a trip to Jerusalem to see the Wailing Wall together with her son David. It seems this will be happening in September in order to coincide with the singer’s tour dates in Tel Aviv. A source revealed the following about Madonna’s trip plans for her daughter: “Madonna wants to give Mercy enough time to settle into her new home. By September she feels she will be ready to take the trip without the danger of upheaval. The Wailing Wall is a very sacred place for anyone with links to the Jewish faith and she wants the children to see it.” Yes, indoctrinate the poor girl why don’t you? Taylor Swift and rapper T-Pain recently got together for a rap collaboration called ‘Thug Story’, a title poking a bit of fun at her hit song ‘Love Story’. The rap was pretty funny. Here are a few lines: “You can find me baking cookies at night. You out clubbin’? But I just made caramel delights!”; “You don’t wanna fight me . . . in my extra-small white T.”; “You can call me T-Sweezy.” It was a video that was shown on the CMAs that took place recently where she picked up Best Female Video and Best Video of the Year for ‘Love Story’. Congratulations to the country cutie!

Simon Cowell’s credit card was rejected when he went to pay for an upscale London dinner, according to a UK report.

The star talent show judge in the UK and US is a multi-millionaire, but he was informed his card showed insufficent funds at Cipriani restaurant.

Piers Morgan, Cowell’s co-judge on Britain’s Got Talent, reportedly was dining with Cowell and said: “It’s the greatest moment in my life.”

The embarrassing moment was put down to Cowell’s card being maxed out, possibly after a spate of spending, the report said.

Cowell and the rest of the X-Factor judges, meanwhile, were shown watching the first auditions for the return of the show in stills taken from the show’s taping.

Victoria Beckham has reportedly undergone her third breast surgery, this time deciding to go smaller. Posh saw a Los Angeles surgeon to have her implants removed to make her a smaller 34B from her 34DD. The former singer decided to reduce the size of her bust because she apparently didn’t feel that it fit with her role as a fashion designer and mother of three. A source said “She had the op three weeks ago and is very pleased with the results. After the op she came to London for business then went to France to heal properly in private.”
