The brother of Michael Jackson last night revealed doctors and paramedics spent an hour trying to revive the pop star.

Jermaine Jackson held a news conference at UCLA Medical Centre just hours after his brother died at the age of 50.

He told how medical staff had attempted to resuscitate the King of Pop before finally declaring him dead.

Jermaine said: “My brother, the legendary King of Pop Michael Jackson, passed away on Thursday June 25 2009 at 2.26pm.

“It is believed that he suffered cardiac arrest in his home. However, the cause of his death is unknown until the coroner results of the autopsy are known.

“His personal physician, who was with him at the time, he attempted to resuscitate my brother. And as did the paramedics who transported him Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Centre.

“Upon arriving at the hospital at approx 1.14pm a team of doctors including emergency physicians and cardiologist attempted to resuscitate him for over an hour. They were unsuccessful.
