There have been loud whispers regarding the similarity between Kelly Clarkson’s latest single ‘Already Gone’ and Beyonce’s ballad ‘Halo’. The original American Idol is stating for the record that she is not a music thief. Kelly says that her song was written before ‘Halo’ was even being produced. The similarity can be accounted to be due to songwriter/producer Ryan Tedder of One Republic. Kelly said “Ryan and I met each other at the record label, before he was working with anyone else… We wrote about six songs together, four or five of them made the album. I’d never heard of a song called Halo. Her album came out when my album was already being printed. No one’s gonna be sittin’ at home, thinkin’ ‘Man, Ryan Tedder gave Beyonce and Kelly the same track to write to.’ No, they’re just gonna be sayin I ripped someone off. I called Ryan and said ‘I don’t understand. Why would you do that?’” Rumor has it that Beyonce heard Kelly’s demo of ‘Already Gone’ and demanded that Ryan produce a similar tune for her.

Madonna has opened up about her experience of studying Jewish mysticism.

In an excerpt from an article she has written for Israel’s largest newspaper, the superstar tells how her life has changed.

The article, which has been translated into Hebrew, will be run in full in Yediot Ahronot on Friday.

Madonna’s conversion to Judaism has been under way for some time. Although it has been widely publicised in recent years, she discovered the faith 14 years ago. It was at that moment, she said, that she realised fame and fortune were not the end but the beginning.

In 2004, she made a pilgrimage to Israel. She has also adopted the Hebrew name of Esther.

When she brought home her recently adopted Malawian daughter, Mercy James, the four-year-old was instantly whisked to a Kabbalah centre in London.

Leo DiCaprio beelined it for the Cartier International Polo Show in Surrey – and Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts.

DiCaprio invited Roberts to join him at Whisky Mist, a West End club. A source said: “Leo had a table in the VIP area of the club and was joined by a group of about 20 stunning models. As soon as Ashley arrived he invited her over and, despite all the other women surrounding him, she was the only one he was paying any attention to.”

The pair cosied up before leaving by separate exits – but at the same time.

“They were getting on like a house on fire, drinking bottles of champagne and expensive tequila. They were so close at one point she was almost on his knee,” the source added.

DiCaprio, on the rebound from a long relationship with Bar Refaeli, was recently seen squiring Cameron Diaz about London. Diaz, meanwhile, was also spotted about town on the arm of lothario Jude Law.

Mischa Barton was on a “path to self-destruction” and started drinking at the age of 14, a pal has revealed.

The 23-year-old star was recently admitted to a hospital in LA and was said to have been put under an involuntary psychiatric hold. Mischa has since been released from the hospital.

Stacey Kives is a stylist who worked with Mischa while one the set of The OC and said: “She was on the path to self-destruction – it was just a question of when she was going to be ready to do something about it.

“Mischa has been drinking since she was about 14, and she doesn’t drink to have fun any more – she drinks not to feel anything. But I think this last episode has scared her straight. She finally sounds like she’s seeing reality.”

However, Stacey admitted she is relieved that Mischa is finally receiving treatment after all these years.

She said: “Mischa’s finally willing to get some help. She was partying so hard before. Whenever a close friend would say: ‘Mischa, I’m worried about you’, she would distance herself.

“It was just a matter of time before she hit rock bottom. Now she wants her friends and family around her. It’s a good sign.”

Troubled Mischa Barton is “doing great”, actor Ashton Kutcher insists.

The starlet was hospitalised for reported psychiatric observation after police were called to her home on July 15.

But Kutcher, one of the creator’s of her new TV show The Beautiful Life, says she is on the road to recovery.

Twitter king Kutcher was speaking at a technology conference in Pasadena, California, when he was asked about Mischa.

He said: “I can tell you right now that Mischa Barton is doing great.”

A spokesman for Mischa has said she is “improving each day” and hopes to be ready to work on the show next week.

The Beautiful Life is about a group of models, with Mischa playing a beauty with a pill-popping habit.

Jennifer Lopez allegedly “threw a fit” when she discovered guests were late for her 40th birthday bash, it has been claimed.

The chart star was initially delighted when she found out that husband Marc Anthony had arranged the surprise dinner party at New York’s Edison Ballroom on Saturday night.

She reportedly burst into tears of joy as she was surrounded by celebrity pals including Liza Minnelli, Ricky Martin and producer L.A. Reid at the night, dubbed An Evening With Lola – Lopez’s nickname.

But she was left “fuming” after she noticed several guests had failed to arrive in time for her big entrance – to the song Whatever Lola Wants, by Sarah Vaughn.

A source said: “Jennifer’s party was very intimate, and there were a noticeable amount of empty seats when the dinner started.

“Jennifer was really irritated. She was fuming because people were late, and complained about it really loudly to Marc. Jennifer was visibly upset and embarrassed.”

And Lopez was said to be sad after A-list pals Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes failed to make it.

She had previously been treated to an intimate family dinner on Friday night.

A representative for the star was unavailable for comment.

Despite reports that she has been cut, both Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest are more than positive that Paula Abdul will be returning to American Idol next season. Paula’s camp recently told the media that the judge has yet to receive a contract for season nine of the hit reality talent show from production head 19 Entertainment and FremantleMedia, but her co-stars are lobbying for her. Simon said “She’ll be fine. She’ll be on the show. I don’t get a lot of say. I’ve just made it clear that I want Paula on the show. Full stop.” I wonder if he’ll walk out on his contract if they don’t get Paula on the show.

Michael Jackson’s will states otherwise but his mother Katherine Jackson is trying to seek some sort of control on the late singer’s estate. The King of Pop’s will, written in 2002, states that his attorney John Branca and music exec John McClain as the co-executors of his estate. However, Katherine wants to know if she can legally “object the appointment” of Branca and McClain and “suggest an alternate appointment”. Michael’s estate is said to be worth over $500 million! However, the will also states that anyone who decides to contest it will be disinherited. A judge will decide on the claim on the same day of the hearing for the guardianship of Michael’s three children.

Jude Law allegedly hit a female photographer as he left a London restaurant after a night out.

The 36-year-old actor was seen leaving The Automat bar and restaurant in London at 12:30am on July 23 when the woman claims he hit her as she took pictures of him.

Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio was also said to be in the restaurant at the time of the incident.

The female photographer said: “He hit me full on the face, it was a real stinger, it was very sore.”

Radio One DJ Chris Moyles was devastated to find out his surname means “bald”.

Moyles said: “Did you say Moyles means bald, bald as in no hair? My surname is bald? Bald as in slaphead, as in no hair? Brilliant, I’ve always thought for years and years that Moyles was gaelic for ’soldier’.”

Speaking on the BBC documentary Who Do You Think You Are? Moyles was also disappointed to find his ancestors had all lived in poverty.

His maternal grandmother, Hannah Nelson, had an extremely tough upbringing, living with five other families in one house in Dublin’s notorious slums.

He said: “That’s a squeeze… one toilet for nearly five houses and each house has at least four families, that’s a lot.”

Although they are about to go on a hiatus of at least a year, Girls Aloud have no intention of splitting up. The British pop girl band has taken to their official website to debunk the break up rumors and talk about their upcoming solo projects from members Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle and Sarah Harding. The girls said “We are definitely NOT splitting up. In fact we have all signed a new contract with Fascination/Polydor Records guaranteeing that we will release at least three Girls Aloud albums – minimum. We will definitely all be going into the studio next year to record – and there will definitely be a new GA album in 2010.”

A probe into the $1.4 million expenditure by the City of Los Angeles on the Michael Jackson memorial service is already under way and possible criminal wrongdoing is under investigation, the city attorney said.

City Attorney Carmen Trutanich has been looking into what made the city deploy thousands of police and other city workers for the star-studded July 7 tribute at the downtown Staples Center. AEG Live, the tour promoter of Jackson’s 50-date UK concert series, has been contacted.

The probe comes in light of a taxpayer backlash and revelations that, among other things, $48,000 was spent on sandwiches for police.

“Our investigation has taken an unanticipated turn that raises both civil and criminal aspects,” Trutanich told the City Council.

The Los Angeles Police Department deployed 3,200 officers after projecting that as many as 250,000 people would converge on downtown streets for the service. But beyond ticket holders, only about 1,000 fans showed up.

Police issued several warnings to the public to stay at home rather than turn up and clog the streets.

Harry Potter worked box-office magic as the latest wizard movie took in $79.5m at the U.S box office over the weekend.

The sixth Potter movie Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince took an amazing $159.7m since it opened on Wednesday.

The film took in $237m in 54 countries since Wednesday, for a global total of $396.7m.

The ticket sales means the Half-Blood Prince has had the best start of any of the Harry Potter movies.

Irish heart-throb Colin Farrell plays a country singer in a new film co-starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jeff Bridges.

The 33-year-old is in Crazy Heart, in which he plays a young protégé taken under the wing of Bridges, an ageing musician.

Gyllenhaal is a reporter who falls for the older star, whom she in turn inspires.

Crazy Heart, which is based on a Thomas Cobb novel, also features Robert Duvall.

THIS is the sultry brunette who was reportedly seen kissing Jessica Simpson’s hunky boyfriend Tony Romo just one day after they split.

Actress Michelle Johnson, 43, is alleged to have been seen ‘kissing and sat in the lap’ of the 29-year-old Dallas Cowboys star and if the allegations are true they are set to cause further heartache to devastated Jessica.

The blonde Dukes of Hazard star was left reeling when Tony dumped her out of the blue on the eve of her 29th birthday.

But this week a source told US publication Star magazine how just 24 hours later Tony and Michelle hooked up after the 29-year-old sports star turned up to a party she threw in the penthouse of L.A’s Sunset Marquis hotel.

The source said: "Tony was in a really great mood and toasting his bachelorhood. And at one point four women came over to his table and were pouring shots of vodka in his mouth.

"He looked like he was on the prowl."

Talking of the moment Tony first met Michelle at 2am that morning the source added: "From the moment he got there he was all over her.

"They were kissing and she sat on his lap."

Now today we can reveal exactly why Michelle at 14 years his senior may have caught Tony’s attention.

While Romo has been spotted making the most of his newfound single status, Jessica meanwhile has been seen looking heartbroken while out with her parents in Malibu.

It is believed the pair split after rowing constantly in the run-up to her birthday.

While Jessica longed to celebrate by going on a romantic tropical vacation Tony is believed to have wanted no part of it.

Jessica had instead been forced to plan a Barbie-and-Ken themed birthday party which she then called off after Tony broke her heart.

Michael Jackson’s doctors are not likely to be named as murder suspects, a senior law enforcement official close to the investigation says.

“They are not suspects,” the source said of the doctors who have been requested to turn over medical records belonging to the pop super star. “They are repositories of medical history. There’s been a high level of co-operation,” he told The Los Angeles Times.

The official, who is close to the multi-agency probe, said, “There’s a lot of hysteria out there.” He added that evidence so far did not support any murder charge. “There’s nothing I have been told that would suggest a murder charge. It’s just so remote and so unsupported by the facts as they’ve been gathered.”

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source said that many cases of homicide do not result in murder or manslaughter charges. Jackson’s alleged history of drug use and use of prescription drugs will weigh into the district attorney’s decision.

If Propofol is found to be the cause of death, it could tilt the investigation into the criminal, he said, however. But the worst charge that has been weighed so far in the case that the powerful sedative found in Jackson’s residence, Diprivan, is confirmed as the cause of his death, is one of involuntary manslaughter. Prosecutors have discussed a range of possible charges in that situation “all the way up to involuntary manslaughter,” he said.

Vesna Maras, a former LA County deputy district attorney who prosecuted physicians and nurses in medical cases, said: “If it is a combination of drugs, and these drugs were coming from multiple sources, the argument can be made that the doctors did not know their patient was doctor-shopping. That can make it really hard to prosecute.”

But, she said, things can change when Propofol – which is only meant for use by anaesthetists – is involved. If investigators find that a doctor who wasn’t an anaesthetist gave the drug to Jackson without the equipment to monitor the patient while he was under anaesthetic, “in that case, I would not rule out filing a murder case,” she said.

But the sources agreed that the probe may end without criminal charges directly related to the death. Even if the coroner declares the case a homicide, authorities may not pursue charges, said one source familiar with the investigation.

Girls Aloud member Sarah Harding shockingly announced this week that she will be leaving the British girl group for a year as she wants to pursue a career as an actress. Is this the beginning of the end for the singers? Sarah said “Acting is good for me because I’ve always been called a drama queen.” I’m willing to bet that no one’s going to argue with her there. With Sarah going on hiatus from the band, Cheryl Cole judging X-Factor and Nadine Coyle working on a solo album, I don’t think that the group is getting back together. Let’s all hope that it’s not the case.

After his controversial appearance last year, Russell Brand will be taking on the duties of being the host of the upcoming 2009 MTV Video Music Awards for the second year in a row. Ratings are ratings after all. After last year’s Jonas Brothers issue, Russell promises to keep the virgin jabs at a minimum and bring a “controversy free festival of love and discrete orgasms” to the show. The VMA’s are heading back to New York, with the controversial comedian hosting from Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, September 13th. As far as performances go, country singer Taylor Swift and British rock band Muse are scheduled to perform. It will be the group’s US TV debut.

Lindsay Lohan’s dad has slammed producers of a porn film spoofing his daughter’s relationship with Samantha Ronson.

The Hustler movie parody’s a documentary about the star, and features Scarlett Fay as Lindsay and Dylan Ryan as Ronson.

“That’s disgusting,” Michael Lohan said.

“I don’t want to see it.

“We can’t stop it, but I wish she would get herself out of this situation where she puts herself in the limelight where people are going to pick on her.”

Her lawyer even tried to catch up with the singer at Michael Jackson’s memorial but that venture ended up being a failure as Akon pulled a stealth move and avoided getting served.
