Singer Leona Lewis loves living in Los Angeles but misses London and her boyfriend Lou Al-Chamaa.

The Bleeding Love singer is definitely not miserable in Hollywood but does miss spending time in Hackney, east London.

Speaking about the US, the 24-year-old told Cosmopolitan magazine: “When I first came here I wasn’t sure if I liked it. It’s taken a while because I love being at home with my family and I miss them when they’re not here.”

The X Factor winner travels to England whenever she can and although she is finding it hard to have a long-distance relationship, the star makes it work.

She said: “Obviously, a long-distance relationship is hard. But, like anything worth having, you make it work. You just have to keep the communication open – we Skype, we chat, we email. And he comes out when he can.”

Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown has swapped her glamorous lifestyle in Los Angeles and headed back to her hometown Leeds to film a new reality series about recession-hit Britain.

The singer has moved into a scruffy house in the tough Harehills area in Leeds.

Mel B, 34, is one of the four celebrities to take part in the new reality show.

Brown will take part in everyday activities such as taking her kids to school and shopping at the supermarket.

A local woman said: “We had no idea what was going on when several heavily-built men turned up at the house.

“Then someone said that Mel B was staying here for the week.”

She added: “I know she came from Leeds, but they couldn’t have picked a scruffier area for her.”

The series is aiming to show how people live on a budget.
