Singer Katy Perry has revealed that she wants to make music “that people can roller-skate to”.

The I Kissed A Girl singer said that she wants her new songs to sound like Ace of Base and The Cardigans.

The 24-year-old said: “I’m kind of thinking I want to do my record like a mesh between Lovefool by The Cardigans and [The Sign] by Ace of Base.

“I want to make songs that people want to hold hands and roller-skate to.”

Perry is also currently inspired by the US electronic band 3OH!3, and has recently collaborated with the group on her new song Starstrukk.

Perry added: “I know that after being on the road for about a year and a half, what I’m missing is a little bit of that Starstrukk flavour.”
