David Gest has said late pal Michael Jackson was “probably the greatest influence” of his life.

The 56-year-old TV personality was good friends with Michael, who died suddenly at his LA home in June.

Talking about his old friend, David said to the UK’s Times Playlist: “He was probably the greatest influence of my life. We grew up together as kids. I speak to his mother once a week, sometimes twice.

“It’s very hard when a mother buries a son. He could use some foul words when he wanted to make a point – he was like [deep voice]: ‘I want to do this now, David!’

“He was a very strong man – until the Pepsi accident he was in total control. That was the start of the decline, when he burnt his head and had to have all that surgery.”
