Ke$ha attended the NRJ Awards which was held at Palais des Festivals last weekend in Cannes, France. The 22-year old singer presented the award for Best International Group/Duo of the Year to Tokio Hotel at the ceremony. Mind you, this was the same award that got mixed up as Ke$ha’s fellow presenter initially announced that the Black Eyed Peas won and then came back a few minutes later to clear it up. Ke$ha went on her Twitter after the event saying “Cannes. Was a pleasure. Rihanna is my new crush. Jeeez she’s perfect.” I’m pretty sure that Ke$ha’s not alone in thinking that.
The Hope for Haiti Now telethon which took place last week has raised $58 million toward the relief for Haiti disaster victims. The star-studded event brought together Hollywood’s biggest and brightest stars to support the worthy cause and aired on more than 25 networks. The Hope for Haiti Now album, comprised of the telethon’s performances, including that of Rihanna, Bono, Jay-Z, Christina Aguilera and others, is also #1 on the iTunes charts in more than 18 countries over the weekend. Sales from iTunes and corporate/large private donations have yet to be added to the $58 million total. Good job for everyone that gave what they can to the cause.
Lady Gaga has said that she felt like a “freak” at her posh all-girls’ school.
The Poker Face star – real name Stefani Germanotta – revealed that she was singled out by her classmates because she didn’t fit in at the private Roman Catholic school in Manhattan.
Gaga, 23, said: “I was a bit insecure in high-school. I used to get made fun of for being too provocative or too eccentric.
“I didn’t fit in, and I felt like a freak.”
She added: “I was always an entertainer.
“I was a ham as a little girl and I’m a ham today.
“I’m a songwriter, performance artist, daughter and sister, but I’m also an Italian girl from New York.”
After holding the first place on all the imaginable and unimaginable tops of pop, it seems that Lady GaGa has finally been dethroned… and by Ke$ha of all people. It seems that pop fans have suddenly taken a greater liking to Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” rather than Lady GaGa’s “Bad Romance”. But it probably is no surprise because Lady GaGa’s lyrical content is somewhat decent, whereas Ke$ha’s is totally mind dumbing… erm, blowing. Congratulations are probably in order in the form of a big bottle of good old Jack and a few shots of tequila to go with them… and then the “partying” can start.
John Mayer was recently spotted in Taylor Swift’s hometown of Nashville as the singer is in town doing CMT Crossroads with Keith Urban. Sources reveal that John and the country singer were seen at the local watering hole Cabana this past weekend having dinner with a small group of people but seated next to each other. This is the latest in a series of dinner dates that the two musicians have been spotted at recently. Could there be any truth to the rumors that they are actually dating? He needs to stay away from her. And Taylor should know better!
And who says she doesn’t have any work to look forward to? Despite not having a judge’s seat to sit on anymore, Paula Abdul is not short of job offers as ABC has recently offered her no less than a million dollars just to appear on Dancing With the Stars. In addition to that, Paula Abdul will also be allowed to go on The X Factor when it finally shows up on the American market. Well, well… guess whose career is going places? Paula Abdul sure must be making Simon Cowell proud these days… it’s either that or a bit of latent jealousy, but hey, the big man has other concerns now.
Actor Josh Duhamel has said it was a “great day” when he renewed his wedding vows with wife Fergie.
The couple tied the knot on January 10, 2009, but renewed their vows in a ceremony on January 6 this year in Santa Barbara as they couldn’t be together on the anniversary.
Talking about the recent renewal, he said to UsMagazine.com: “It was a great day.”
Duhamel then revealed when he will next see his wife. He said: “I’ll see her in a couple of days in New York. She’s going with me to Utah for Sundance and then we are going to fly back for the premiere of When In Rome next week.”
Laura Bell Bundy got her big break in Broadway musicals playing Elle Woods in ‘Legally Blonde’, Glinda in ‘Wicked’ and Amber Von Tussle in ‘Hairspray’. Now, the Kentucky-born performer is now taking on the country music scene. Her upcoming album ‘Achin’ and Shakin’’ isn’t coming out for a couple of months but the video for her fun first single ‘Giddy on Up’ was recently released. You can already buy the song on iTunes. Mind you, Laura Bell wrote all of the songs except for one on her album which is essentially two separate albums – ‘Achin’’, a collection of slow and sultry country songs and ‘Shakin’’, sassy songs of equal parts humor, confidence and attitude.
Shakira recently announced her initiative to have a new school built in Haiti through her Barefoot Foundation. The Latin singer’s foundation will partner with Architecture for Humanity to build the school and as well as work with NGO partners to provide education, school feeding, clean water and sanitation services. Shakira said “There is a great need for immediate aid in Haiti, but also for longer-term reconstruction. For that reason, we are doing our small part to help Haiti rebuild and give the children affected by this disaster the chance to learn and thrive. I hope we can use some of what we’ve learned working in Colombia to help Haiti’s children recover. When we educate children we empower societies, and right now Haiti needs all of our help.”
The singer recently attended a conference in France and he was apparently very impressed with the country… so much so that he actually hinted at moving over there. This is what Pete Wentz wrote on twitter on the matter: “In south france feeling the jet lag. I could live here. France is amazing. The food. The people.” But Pete Wentz is a married man… what point is there in going to France now? Maybe in his bachelor days, yes, but now… Oh well, maybe Europe will polish his fathering skills a bit, get him to try a little harder next semester.
Good Charlotte have gone back to the drawing board on their latest album.
Benji Madden said the decision was tough to scrap the band’s new album. But when he and his brother Joel returned from Australia, they were not happy with the final product.
Madden on the band’s website explains, “When we got back from the last trip to Australia, we had pretty much finished recording the record. I went into the studio to hear some roughs and it just wasn’t right. I couldn’t figure it out. I was so lost. I love the songs, I love the lyrics, so what was the problem. I was just so bewildered. Devastated actually. This had never happened. I felt crazy. Like this. I told our manager to just PAUSE everything and I need time to think. I called all the boys immediately and called an emergency meeting. Everyone sat down. And I just said ‘Guys, we gotta start over’.”
The album was to be titled Cardiology. Madden added: “I was expecting everyone to freak on me and say ‘What?!’ But Billy (Martin) was the first to speak, and right away he said ‘I knew you were gonna say that. My gut is telling me the same thing. Let’s do it.’ Everyone agreed.”
It looks like the rumors that are portending the reconciliation of Selena Gomez and Taylor Lautner might actually have some truth behind them. When asked about the singer
‘s well-being, her Disney colleague, Demi Lovato, answered that Taylor is the right person to be asked about it. Not only is Selena Gomez back with her old flame, but it seems they’re setting fire to a few of those around them. At least Taylor Swift is burning up over this new development of things. Selena Gomez’s actor buddies at Disney don’t seem to be too happy about it though… maybe a cat-fight is on the horizon. After all, Taylor Lautner is more than a reasonable prize.
Country music icon Charlie Daniels was rushed to a Colorado hospital last week after suffering a mild stroke while he was on his snow mobile. It’s being said that the legendary musician, the guy behind ‘The Devil Went Down to Georgia’ was immediately treated at a hospital in Durango but was soon airlifted to another hospital in Denver. His rep says that Charlie was released from the hospital this past Sunday and is resting at his home in Colorado. Let’s hope that he takes it easy for a while and that he doesn’t suffer any more strokes any time soon.
Beyonce Knowles is going to be a part of the star-studded Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief telethon which airs later tonight. The 28-year old singer will join her hubby Jay-Z, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna and many others. According to MTV, all performances and collaborations will be available on iTunes on Saturday with proceeds of the sales going towards the relief efforts. The telethon will air commercial-free on MTV and network channels as well as on Canada’s CTV, CBC Television and MuchMusic.
Lady Gaga’s latest smash hit ‘Bad Romance’ has set the record for most weekly plays registered in Billboard’s Pop Songs radio airplay tally history. Last week, the song was played 10,859 times across the nation. The princess of pop knocked singer Leona Lewis out of her titled position. In 2008, Leona’s ‘Bleeding Love’ was played 10,665 times in one week. Congratulations Lady Gaga! That’s another accomplishment that you can put to your name. It’s utterly amazing! Everyone loves Lady Gaga and no one seems to be slowing down when it comes to showing how much. Lady Gaga absolutely rules the world!
Taylor Swift lent her amazing vocals on John Mayer’s new album and it is being said that it may have led to something more. Star Magazine is reporting that the country singer and the pop rock star were spotted sharing “an intimate dinner” earlier this month in Santa Monica. A source said “They came in together and got a private table in a corner of the restaurant. They DEFINITELY looked like a couple. John was telling stories and she was hanging on his every word.” I really hope that this was just a casual dinner between friends. Taylor is way out of John’s league.
The singer must have some nomadic ancestry… that has probably faded with time, though. It seems Britney Spears feels the need to leave her home every once in a while to get away from it all… a few blocks away, that is, to a nearby hotel where she apparently checks in for a few days every month even though it is very close to her home. This is what a member of the hotel staff related on the matter: “She’s no reason to be here. Last time she had staff running around after her kids as they had both caught flu and she had no medicine for them. She uses the gym, is waited on and she uses the babysitting service.” They’re not too keen on having Britney Spears around, are they? Just the same, it looks as if she’s either trying to indulge her nomadic spirit, but doesn’t get too far, or Britney Spears likes to play diva for a few days a month. Jamie Spears has probably forbidden that for her at home.
Simon Cowell will produce a single for quake-ravaged Haiti. Cowell, who joins the UK Sun’s Helping Haiti campaign, will use his clout to draw in a solid line-up of performers for the track. Cowell has also worked with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown to have the value-added tax waived on the track.
Top-shelf artists including Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Robbie Williams and Wyclef Jean have already been lined up for the single. Cowell will also draw from his X-Factor-created stars, who include Leona Lewis and Susan Boyle. The team will work at a pace to produce the single in the US.
Cowell said: “I wanted to do something for Haiti so when I had calls from the Sun and the prime minister asking if I would get involved I agreed immediately. We are going to do a single. We only made the decision today. I have got to get it together in 48 hours.”
Cheryl Cole, from the X-Factor’s judging panel, said: “I would be happy to lend my support.” The Sun noted it had already raised $1,400,000 for the appeal.
Jennifer Lopez will be trading in her fancy Louboutins for a hair net when she goes and guest stars on ‘Glee’. The show’s creator Ryan Murphy recently announced that the Latin singer/actress will be appearing as the school’s cafeteria lady when the show returns in April. That’s a big downgrade for the diva for sure but I think she’ll have a lot of fun with it. I wonder what the role entails for her and what song she will be singing, if she’s singing at all. I’d love for her to actually go toe-to-toe with Jane Lynch’s character Sue Sylvester.
