Laura Bell Bundy brought her own brand of sex appeal to country music when she debuted her song ‘I’m No Good for You’ at Splash bar in NYC’s Flatiron district this past weekend. The 28-year old country newcomer also belted out her first single ‘Giddy on Up’ as well as debuting a new song called ‘Boyfriend’. If you haven’t heard about the singer yet and would want an idea of what she’s like, Laura is like Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift’s sexy big sister. She went back to Splash on Monday to host Musical Mondays. If you didn’t know, Laura actually started on Broadway.
Nelly Furtado will make her silver screen debut in ‘Score: A Hockey Musical’. The singer turned actress will be playing a woman who is obsessed in the game. That’s totally typecasting her – Nelly’s Canadian! The director, Michael McGowan spoke of Nelly’s involvement in the project saying “Nelly is an incredible entertainer and, after speaking with her, I realized that she fully relished embracing her inner hockey fanatic.” Olivia Newton-John will also star as a mother of a young hockey player. Filming will begin in Toronto later this month. I think this will be nothing more but a mistake and a flop of a movie.
If you skipped school or work earlier this week to watch re-runs of ‘The Jersey Shore’, you might have noticed something a little different. You might have noticed that the MTV logo has changed. Not drastically in the aesthetic change but something very important is gone. Almost 30 years ago when the network started broadcasting, the tag line “music television” ran across the bottom of the logo. Now, it’s nowhere to be found. It’s a little change but it’s a big statement as the network has finally realized what most of us have noticed for years – MTV has nothing to do with music.
