The soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: New Moon has shot to the top of the US album charts in further testiment to Twilight fever.

The Twilight soundtrack, which is indie-rock in flavour, is expected to keep selling robustly as Michael Jackson’s This Is It soundtrack eventually gains force.

After debuting on the charts at number two last week, the soundtrack sold more than 155,000 copies in three days.

The bands Death Cab For Cutie, The Killers, Grizzly Bear are featured on the album, which does not include anything by series heart-throb Robert Pattinson.

4 Diva CDs

Posted in Album Release, Debut CD, Heidi Montag, Madonna, Mariah Carey, album by Amanda @ Aug 26, 2009

It’s going to be a battle of the divas on September 29th as four very different CDs will be available for purchase on that one specific date. Madonna’s latest collection of hits ‘Celebration’, Barbra Streisand’s classic ballad album ‘Love is the Answer’, Mariah Carey’s twice delayed ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’ and Heidi Montag’s self-titled debut album will all be dropping on that date. Just looking at that list of names and you can already tell which ones are going to sell and which are going to flop. But first, let me rephrase what I said as battle of the divas. It’s battle of the divas and a wannabe. Take your pick.

New Norah Jones

Posted in Album Release, Norah Jones, album by Amanda @ Aug 26, 2009

After a two year hiatus from the music scene, Norah Jones will be gracing our ears and airwaves with more of her music and it’s being said that it’s going to be different than that jazz stuff that we’re used to when it comes to her. The singer has apparently spent the last 2 years writing and experimenting with new sounds, collaborating with the likes of Ryan Adams, Okkervil River’s Will Sheff, and Jesse Harris. Perhaps the biggest change is that Norah has ditched her piano in favor of the guitar for most of the tracks. The singer talked of the album saying “I knew I wanted to try some different things on this album. I’d been playing with the same musicians for a long time. We’re all still friendly and I hope we play together again, but it felt like a good time to work with new people and experiment with different sounds.” The album is due out in November.

Whitney Houston Album Comes Out Soon

Posted in Album Release, Whitney Houston by Amanda @ May 12, 2009

A source has recently come out with the amazing news that Whitney Houston will be gracing her patiently waiting fans with a new album very soon. An insider close to the project says that the singer is in the final recording stages of the album. She’s been working with Harvey Mason Jr. Whitney is also said to be having an album cover shoot scheduled for later this week with legendary photographer Patrick Demarchelier. That’s such great news! I’ve always been a fan of hers. She has been gone for way too long and it’s about time that she shows the rest of the wannabe divas what the word really means.

Christina Aguilera Goes to the Movies

Posted in Album Release, Christina Aguilera by Amanda @ Apr 28, 2009

Christina Aguilera may be getting an acting gig soon. And not just any acting gig. The 28-year old singer may even end up as the lead actress in an upcoming big screen movie. Christina is in negotiations to play a modern-day dancer in ‘Burlesque’, a movie written by Steven Antin, the brother of Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin. Her singing persona definitely supports that role. I wonder if they can get Dita Von Teese to appear in the movie too or at least give Christina some tips. In the meantime, Christina’s anticipated and as yet untitled album is due out this Summer/Fall 2009.

Christina Aguilera Talks Albums

Posted in Album Release, Christina Aguilera by Amanda @ Apr 2, 2009

christina-aguilera
Christina Aguilera was recently spotted having lunch at LaScala Restaurant before picking up a couple of unmentionables at Agent Provocateur on Tuesday in Beverly Hills, California. The 28-year old singer was wearing her beautiful bejewelled heart necklace which has the inscription of her son Max’s name on it. In other Christina news, the singer is currently recording her fourth studio album, which she describes as “short, sweet and completely different” from her throwback album ‘Back to Basics’. Considering the list of people that she’s working on for her upcoming album, I can just bet that it is different. I just hope she doesn’t try being like Lady Gaga too much.

Amy Winehouse’s new studio

Posted in Album Release, Amy Winehouse by Amanda @ Mar 17, 2009

amy-winehouse
The singer is reportedly about to spend three million dollars to make herself a studio at home so that she can record her new material in peace. A source said this about Amy Winehouse’s new creational facility: “She doesn’t want to have to go to a public studio to record her new album, where she’ll get photographed all the time, so she’s looking into getting a set-up at home. She recorded loads of tracks while in Camden. She wanted a similar set-up.” Three million dollars? What is Amy Winehouse going to put in that studio, a fully paid orchestra? Or better still: a full robot orchestra? I never knew Amy Winehouse was such an accomplished musician that she required that much equipment.

Rihanna album sales soar amid controversy

Posted in Album Release, Chris Brown, Records Sale, Rihanna by Amanda @ Feb 20, 2009

Rihanna may be broken and bruised inside and out but definitely not her bank account as sales of her 2007 album “Good Girl Gone Bad” increased by 33% which is equal to 25,000 album copies sold. Rihanna’s brisk album sales, which came amid the domestic violence issue involving her and boyfriend Chris Brown, is being interpreted as a sign of support for her. Rihannas’s album stands out considering that Grammy winners and big debuts by Lily Allen among others dominated this week’s album sales.

But while Rihanna’s album sales is soaring, the reverse is happening to Brown’s 2007 album “Exclusive” which did not even made it to the Top 200. Rihanna went home to Barbados after the incident to spend time with her family but is now reportedly out and about and keeping herself on the radar. Aside from cancelling her Grammy Awards performance, Rihanna has also cancelled two Asian shows and has not scheduled any public appearance since then.

Christina Aguilera Working on New Material

Posted in Album Release, Christina Aguilera by Amanda @ Feb 19, 2009

Christina Aguilera is apparently hard at work on her 4th album and she’s working with some pretty amazing people. Her 2006 studio effort ‘Back to Basics’ was a very retro-sounding affair and it now seems like she has a killer strategy for her follow up. Christina has confirmed that she has been working with Australian singer Sia since January and has also confirmed that she has been speaking with the electropop group Ladytron regarding a collaboration. Another rumor floating around is that she will be collaborating with Goldfrapp but nothing has been confirmed yet. If it is true, it sounds like it’s going to be another amazing album for Christina.

Jamie Foxx’s A-List Music Video

Posted in Album Release, Jamie Foxx, Music News, Music Video by Amanda @ Feb 6, 2009

Jamie Foxx is already a draw just by himself but he certainly doesn’t cut corners when he called upon a few of his most famous friends in Hollywood to star in the music video for his new single ‘Blame It’ which comes off of his latest album ‘Intuition’. The album is already out now. The 41-year old singer was joined by the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal, Forest Whitaker, Samuel L. Jackson, director Ron Howard, Cedric the Entertainer and Quincy Jones. The video was directed by Hype Williams. Jamie’s new video will premiere on the week of February 9th though I’m not entirely sure of the day.
