Jennifer Lopez may have parted ways with Sony Music Epic Records but the singer has already found a new label to work with. In a statement released to one of her fan sites, JLo said “I know my fans have been wondering what’s been going on with my album. I have been in the process of a transition and now I am happy that all the issues have been resolved and I have found a new home. I have fulfilled my contractual obligations to Sony/Epic and felt it was time to move on. It was an amicable split not as the media will paint it out to be. I have been with Sony for many years and we achieved great success together. During this period I never stopped the creative process and my album ‘Love?’ will still be released in the summer of 2010 as planned.”
Since Justin Timberlake is probably laying low for a while and Matt Kemp is not such a sure bet, it looks like there’s nothing left for Rihanna to do but work. And she has good reason to do so as her last album, “Rated R”, didn’t do so well. So it’s off to the recording studio with Rihanna once more to work on an album that will apparently get released somewhere this Summer. Rihanna assures her fans that this time the music will be less heavy and more fun and cheerful. It looks like Rihanna got tired of playing artist pretty quickly and is going back to making music for the industry. Well, she has to make a living out of something!
Good Charlotte have gone back to the drawing board on their latest album.
Benji Madden said the decision was tough to scrap the band’s new album. But when he and his brother Joel returned from Australia, they were not happy with the final product.
Madden on the band’s website explains, “When we got back from the last trip to Australia, we had pretty much finished recording the record. I went into the studio to hear some roughs and it just wasn’t right. I couldn’t figure it out. I was so lost. I love the songs, I love the lyrics, so what was the problem. I was just so bewildered. Devastated actually. This had never happened. I felt crazy. Like this. I told our manager to just PAUSE everything and I need time to think. I called all the boys immediately and called an emergency meeting. Everyone sat down. And I just said ‘Guys, we gotta start over’.”
The album was to be titled Cardiology. Madden added: “I was expecting everyone to freak on me and say ‘What?!’ But Billy (Martin) was the first to speak, and right away he said ‘I knew you were gonna say that. My gut is telling me the same thing. Let’s do it.’ Everyone agreed.”
Mariah Carey’s new album ‘Angels Advocate’ has been pushed back from its original release date of February 23rd to March 9th. Does no one have faith in the diva and her music anymore? What’s the hold up anyway? Actually, scratch that. I didn’t even know that she was making a new album much less that it was about to get released. And frankly, I don’t really care. Honestly, I think she should just give up now while she still has even the tiniest bit of dignity left in her. But then again, even that is beginning to look questionable. The only good thing to happen to her this past year is being in the movie ‘Precious’.
The soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: New Moon has shot to the top of the US album charts in further testiment to Twilight fever.
The Twilight soundtrack, which is indie-rock in flavour, is expected to keep selling robustly as Michael Jackson’s This Is It soundtrack eventually gains force.
After debuting on the charts at number two last week, the soundtrack sold more than 155,000 copies in three days.
The bands Death Cab For Cutie, The Killers, Grizzly Bear are featured on the album, which does not include anything by series heart-throb Robert Pattinson.
As you know, the upcoming re-release of Lady Gaga’s ‘The Fame’, ‘The Fame Monster’, is going to include eight brand new tracks from the Princess of Pop. Those eight new songs from the singer can now be revealed! ‘The Fame Monster’ will include the new tracks ‘Bad Romance’, ‘Alejandro’, ‘Monster’, ‘So Happy I Could Die’, ‘Speechless’, ‘Dance in the Dark’, ‘Telephone’ and ‘Teeth’. The re-release of Lady Gaga’s album will be available in stores on November 23rd. I can’t wait to hear the new music from her. I’m sure all you other Lady Gaga fans are on the edge of your seats.
It’s going to be a battle of the divas on September 29th as four very different CDs will be available for purchase on that one specific date. Madonna’s latest collection of hits ‘Celebration’, Barbra Streisand’s classic ballad album ‘Love is the Answer’, Mariah Carey’s twice delayed ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’ and Heidi Montag’s self-titled debut album will all be dropping on that date. Just looking at that list of names and you can already tell which ones are going to sell and which are going to flop. But first, let me rephrase what I said as battle of the divas. It’s battle of the divas and a wannabe. Take your pick.
After a two year hiatus from the music scene, Norah Jones will be gracing our ears and airwaves with more of her music and it’s being said that it’s going to be different than that jazz stuff that we’re used to when it comes to her. The singer has apparently spent the last 2 years writing and experimenting with new sounds, collaborating with the likes of Ryan Adams, Okkervil River’s Will Sheff, and Jesse Harris. Perhaps the biggest change is that Norah has ditched her piano in favor of the guitar for most of the tracks. The singer talked of the album saying “I knew I wanted to try some different things on this album. I’d been playing with the same musicians for a long time. We’re all still friendly and I hope we play together again, but it felt like a good time to work with new people and experiment with different sounds.” The album is due out in November.

A source has recently come out with the amazing news that Whitney Houston will be gracing her patiently waiting fans with a new album very soon. An insider close to the project says that the singer is in the final recording stages of the album. She’s been working with Harvey Mason Jr. Whitney is also said to be having an album cover shoot scheduled for later this week with legendary photographer Patrick Demarchelier. That’s such great news! I’ve always been a fan of hers. She has been gone for way too long and it’s about time that she shows the rest of the wannabe divas what the word really means.

Christina Aguilera may be getting an acting gig soon. And not just any acting gig. The 28-year old singer may even end up as the lead actress in an upcoming big screen movie. Christina is in negotiations to play a modern-day dancer in ‘Burlesque’, a movie written by Steven Antin, the brother of Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin. Her singing persona definitely supports that role. I wonder if they can get Dita Von Teese to appear in the movie too or at least give Christina some tips. In the meantime, Christina’s anticipated and as yet untitled album is due out this Summer/Fall 2009.

Christina Aguilera was recently spotted having lunch at LaScala Restaurant before picking up a couple of unmentionables at Agent Provocateur on Tuesday in Beverly Hills, California. The 28-year old singer was wearing her beautiful bejewelled heart necklace which has the inscription of her son Max’s name on it. In other Christina news, the singer is currently recording her fourth studio album, which she describes as “short, sweet and completely different” from her throwback album ‘Back to Basics’. Considering the list of people that she’s working on for her upcoming album, I can just bet that it is different. I just hope she doesn’t try being like Lady Gaga too much.
The singer is reportedly about to spend three million dollars to make herself a studio at home so that she can record her new material in peace. A source said this about Amy Winehouse’s new creational facility: “She doesn’t want to have to go to a public studio to record her new album, where she’ll get photographed all the time, so she’s looking into getting a set-up at home. She recorded loads of tracks while in Camden. She wanted a similar set-up.” Three million dollars? What is Amy Winehouse going to put in that studio, a fully paid orchestra? Or better still: a full robot orchestra? I never knew Amy Winehouse was such an accomplished musician that she required that much equipment.
