There are some new details out about Whitney Houston’s new album which is coming out this September. Apparently, the diva has collaborations with both Alicia Keys and Akon. Alicia wrote and produced a track for the iconic singer and Akon’s collaboration with Whitney will be the master version of the track that got leaked last year, ‘Like I Never Left’. Insiders are saying that the new album from Whitney is a “combination of big, sweeping ballads and 80s dance music like Houston’s trademark hit ‘How Will I Know’ and ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’.” I can’t wait until her album comes out.
Jack White is not happy with corporate America. The song that he and Alicia Keys have put together for the new James Bond movie went straight to a Coke commercial. Jack wants to make sure we all know that he had nothing to do with the sell out decision. His statement via his reps says “Jack White was commissioned by Sony Pictures to write a theme song for the James Bond film ‘Quantum Of Solace’, not for Coca Cola. Any other use of the song is based on decisions made by others, not by Jack White. We are disappointed that you first heard the song in a co-promotion for Coke Zero, rather than in its entirety.”
Joss Stone is recording a song for US democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
The ‘Fell in Love With A Boy’ singer was reportedly asked to lend her voice to the song – which will be used as a theme to Obama’s election campaign later this year – because she will appeal to voters of all races.
A source said: “Joss is a big supporter of Barack Obama and was very excited to be asked to do this for him. He sent her a personal message asking her to get on board. He has always admired her music and thinks she is the perfect choice because of her unique appeal to black and white voters. She believes he is going to be the first black American president and she is honoured to be part of that.”
R’n'B star Alicia Keys and rapper Jay-Z have also pledged their support to Obama, with both dedicating songs to him. However, the politician blasted a controversial song recorded by rapper Ludacris last week.
In the track ‘Politics as Usual’, Ludacris called Hillary Clinton – who competed with Obama to become the democratic candidate – a “b***h” and said republican candidate John McCain did not belong “in any chair unless he’s paralyzed”.
Alicia Keys showed off a little arm candy in the form of her younger half brother Cole at the Alicia ‘Keep a Child Alive’ Black Ball which was held in St. John’s Smith Square on Thursday in London. Alicia and Cole share the same father but have different mothers. In other Alicia news, it’s being said that the 28-year old singing sensation is the top contender to sing the title song for the next James Bond movie ‘Quantum of Solace’. A source tells E! “I believe Alicia is the winner.” Amy Winehouse was originally set to sing the theme but we all know what she’s like.
Honestly, I love her. Something about her just makes me feel for her; she’s not annoying, she’s not creepy….I don’t know. So, I start this off by saying that I want her to succeed.
Unfortunately, her debut release Tattoo isn’t doing so well. Last year it was Taylor Hicks – he won the record for the weakest debut yet of an American Idol winner. Now, it look like Jordin may just take that title from him.
Is it Jordin that people aren’t smitten with? Or is it just that the American Idol fever is wearing off? Who can really say? I guess we’ll find out when American Idol returns to television with a new season in January.
It could be the lack of hype surrounding Tattoo. Or it could be that Jordin’s album was released among new albums from the likes of Alicia Keyes, Garth Brooks, and Josh Groban.
Whatever the case, will we see Sparks fly in the end? Or will she fizzle before she flames?
Britney Spears’ record label backed out of a diva battle on the charts by actually releasing her album early. But neither Celine Dion nor Alicia Keys are scared to get a little competition in.Both divas released new albums this week, and while there was no Kanye West and 50 Cent hype that went on around them, both are projected to sell very well. However, only one singer can take the top spot and it seems to be Alicia.
The R&B singer’s latest album is expected to move 550,000 copies while Celine’s ‘Taking Chances’, the Canadians’ first English-language album in 4 years, is expected to sell around 250,000. Congratulations to both for their respective success.
