Pete Wentz is finally admitting that his band Fall Out Boy was ruined due to Ashlee Simpson – sort of. The rock star blames part of the problem on his much publicized marriage to Ashlee as a hindrance for the band. Mostly, he just blames himself and the fame. According to Pete, he thinks his relationship with Ashlee has placed him in the gossip columns too much and has had a negative impact on the band. He said “My biggest personal reason for taking a break is that I feel my name has become a hindrance for the band.” He adds that front man Patrick Stump “is a musical genius and it’s unfortunate that he gets reviewed based on whatever’s going on in my personal life or how my hair looks. I think the world needs a little less Pete Wentz.”

It was just a couple of weeks ago that Ashlee Simpson said that she got a promise ring from Fall Out Boy boyfriend Pete Wentz. Now, In Touch is reporting that the couple is engaged. A family friend says that “He got down on one knee and she said yes. She has an amazing ring, and they are so in love.” Ashlee just released a statement to FriendsOrEnemies saying “Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes – it means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, and we wanted to be the first to tell you and to hear it straight from us.”

Stop the presses! Ashlee Simpson actually stopped leeching on her boyfriend’s fame and left her karaoke machine at home this week when she performed at LAX Nightclub at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas. She finally unleashed her stellar vocals on a live audience which is more than we can say for Paula Abdul. Her father and manager Joe Simpson and boyfriend Pete Wentz were there to support the gal as she traveled through the undiscovered realm of not faking it. She’s never going to be able to drop that lip synching reputation. Too bad. Change managers now if you want to save what’s left of your career!

Ashlee Simpson is Obsessive

Ashlee Simpson’s single ‘Outta My Head’ which was produced by Timbaland failed to catch on at radio. It just goes to show that not everything Timbaland touches turns to gold. So what does her record  do? They turned around and try another route.

The singer’s label is rush-releasing a new single ‘Lil’ Miss Obsessive’. This time, it’s produced by boyfriend Pete Wentz and it’s loads better. It’s a power pop/rock anthem that features Tom from Plain White Ts singing beautiful harmonies with Ashlee. And it feels so much more organic. I think this will get more radio airplay than her first one.

Pete and Ashlee Go Karaoke

Fall Out Boy ‘front man’ Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson both attended ‘Vive Le Karaoke’ at the Angels & Kings bar in New York City on Monday night. The event was hosted by Nylon Magazine, designer Tommy Hilfiger and Crush.

Pete opened up his new bar Angels & Kings this past April and he has described it by saying “And I’m not the kind of person that’s like, ‘All right, I’ll meet up with you guys later,’ It’s like, what’s the fun in going out to a place if you’re just sitting around in a VIP lounge with a bunch of other people on their BlackBerrys?…This is a bar for all the rejects.”

K, if you say so.
