Pete Wentz believes that Charlie Sheen’s antics have helped keep the spotlight off his divorce from Ashlee Simpson. The 31-year-old Fall Out Boy star’s marriage to the singer broke down earlier this year after just three years, but Wentz said that they continue to stay close for the sake of son Bronx, two. Speaking on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show, Wentz said, “I think that one of the things, the hardest thing, when you’re a public profile [is] to maintain your private life, and you wanna do it especially when there’s a kid involved. “It’s like the one time on earth I’m like, ‘Thank God Charlie Sheen exists’. “Ashlee’s been my best friend for five years. She’s the mother of my child. I have nothing but love and respect for her and going through something like this isn’t easy, but we’re friends and the most important thing is to put our son first.”

Singer Ashlee Simpson-Wentz approves of her big sister’s new boyfriend.

Ashlee has given the thumbs up to Jessica’s beau Eric Johnson.

Simpson-Wentz told UsMagazine.com: “She is happy, so we are all really happy.

“Her happiness is the most important thing to me.”

And Jessica, 30, seems to be going down a bit hit with Ashlee’s son Bronx.

The 25-year-old said: “Yesterday he was over at her house calling her ‘Jess’ (and then saying) ‘ica’ a few minutes later, it was really cute.”??

The La La singer, who had Bronx with husband Pete Wentz in 2008, would love to extend the family.

She said: “We would love to have a big family.”

And she certainly seems to be enjoying motherhood.

Ashlee said: “Every day is like a milestone, I swear it is the best thing.

“I mean, being a mother, taking the time that I have taken off just to be with him has really been incredible.”

She added: “Every day he is learning something new and growing. It is fantastic. I feel very fortunate.”

Ashlee also reveals Bronx’s favourite musician at the moment is Jay-Z.

A family friend says that “He got down on one knee and she said yes. She has an amazing ring, and they are so in love.” Ashlee just released a statement to FriendsOrEnemies saying “Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes – it means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, and we wanted to be the first to tell you and to hear it straight from us.”

Stop the presses! Ashlee Simpson actually stopped leeching on her boyfriend’s fame and left her karaoke machine at home this week when she performed at LAX Nightclub at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas. She finally unleashed her stellar vocals on a live audience which is more than we can say for Paula Abdul. Her father and manager Joe Simpson and boyfriend Pete Wentz were there to support the gal as she traveled through the undiscovered realm of not faking it. She’s never going to be able to drop that lip synching reputation. Too bad. Change managers now if you want to save what’s left of your career!

Ashlee Simpson’s single ‘Outta My Head’ which was produced by Timbaland failed to catch on at radio. It just goes to show that not everything Timbaland touches turns to gold. So what does her record  do? They turned around and try another route.

The singer’s label is rush-releasing a new single ‘Lil’ Miss Obsessive’. This time, it’s produced by boyfriend Pete Wentz and it’s loads better. It’s a power pop/rock anthem that features Tom from Plain White Ts singing beautiful harmonies with Ashlee. And it feels so much more organic. I think this will get more radio airplay than her first one.

Fall Out Boy ‘front man’ Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson both attended ‘Vive Le Karaoke’ at the Angels & Kings bar in New York City on Monday night. The event was hosted by Nylon Magazine, designer Tommy Hilfiger and Crush.

Pete opened up his new bar Angels & Kings this past April and he has described it by saying “And I’m not the kind of person that’s like, ‘All right, I’ll meet up with you guys later,’ It’s like, what’s the fun in going out to a place if you’re just sitting around in a VIP lounge with a bunch of other people on their BlackBerrys?…This is a bar for all the rejects.”
