With their smash collaboration ‘Telephone’, Lady Gaga and Beyonce are now tied together for most number ones on the Billboard Music’s Pop songs chart. The girls tie with only Mariah Carey for six number 1 tracks and beat out Avril Lavigne, Pink, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake who all have five. Special kudos has to go to the princess of pop though as the singer only appeared on the music scene two years ago and has reached the top of the chart with every single she’s ever put out. Completely amazing! Congratulations go out to both ladies! I wish for more duets in your future.

Beyonce has opened a make-up school for recovering drug addicts.

The chart star made a surprise appearance at a New York substance abuse clinic with her mother, Tina, where she cut the ribbon on the Beyonce Cosmetology Center.

It was set up at Brooklyn’s Phoenix House after the star spent time there researching her role in movie drama Cadillac Records. She was so moved by the experience that she donated her salary from the film to the centre.

The seven-month programme will help recovering addicts rebuild their lives and embark on careers in the cosmetics industry.

Beyonce, 28, and her mother have pledged to donate $100,000 annually.

She said at the launch: “I felt like they needed something that was geared towards women – something that would teach them skills that would give them hope even after the Phoenix House.”

Last week was pretty tragic for gay men everywhere around the world as Beyonce has decided to put to rest her alter ego Sasha Fierce for good once she wraps up her tour. The R&B singer said “Sasha Fierce is done. I killed her.” If that wasn’t bad enough, Beyonce isn’t recording any more music until she learns to pain and cook, and to go to Broadway shows and museums. Basically, she wants to have a career hiatus to live a pretty normal life. I’m kind of on the fence on this. I was pretty annoyed with the whole Sasha Fierce deal but without her, I think Beyonce is just boring.

Singer Beyonce has been voted the celebrity with the best body by British women.

The curvy star came top of the new poll by landing 24 per cent of the vote, but men believe that Transformers star Megan Fox has the best body and said she is the woman they would sleep with if allowed to by their partner.

The poll was carried out by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

It also found that British model Katie Price is becoming less popular as a third of men and women voted her the least attractive celebrity.

Both sexes also voted that Victoria Beckham has the worst figure out of other celebrities.

The poll was carried out to mark the release of Fox’s new movie, Jennifer’s Body, on DVD.

I guess Argentina doesn’t love Beyonce as much as some other parts of the world. Sources are saying that sales for the R&B diva’s Buenos Aires concert today was so crappy that the city’s major newspaper had to resort to giving away tickets for free. Tickets were reportedly selling for 800 pesos or $210 at the highest and 150 pesos or $53 at the lowest. That’s more than Madonna was charging! The venue is also about a 40 minute drive from the city center and many in town use public transportation. I guess Beyonce needs to come back down to earth and be more accommodating.

Rumor has it that Beyonce and Russell Crowe are up for the lead roles in a Warner Brothers remake of the Barbra Streisand classic ‘A Star is Born’. Beyonce is no Barbra and Russell is no Kris Kristofferson. However, I do appreciate that the pair of them would make for one of the most prominent on-screen interracial relationships since Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner in ‘The Bodyguard’. The diversity is nice but I don’t really know about the remake. I just hate the way some people just mess with the classics when they don’t have to. Can’t anyone make original movies these days?

Beyonce Knowles is going to be a part of the star-studded Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief telethon which airs later tonight. The 28-year old singer will join her hubby Jay-Z, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna and many others. According to MTV, all performances and collaborations will be available on iTunes on Saturday with proceeds of the sales going towards the relief efforts. The telethon will air commercial-free on MTV and network channels as well as on Canada’s CTV, CBC Television and MuchMusic.

There’s absolutely no stopping Rihanna. The Barbadian beauty has just earned her thirteenth Top 10 Single of her career with her song ‘Hard’ which recently made the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 list. I know it’s kind of hard to take in considering Rihanna’s latest music doesn’t seem up to par with her past hits. But you have to admit that being who she is helps. This now ties the R&B singer with Beyonce for having the most Hot 100 Top 10s among female artists since 2000. Congratulations Rihanna! I hope she gets more hits and that she improves from her releases this year.

Beyonce has been criticised for performing a private concert for Libyan dictator Colonel Gaddafi’s son.

The 28-year-old beauty has been criticised after reports that she spent New Year’s Eve performing at a party hosted by Colonel Muammar Gaddafi’s son Moutassim.

The event allegedly took place at nightclub Nikki Beach on the island of St Barts in the Caribbean and it is claimed she was paid $2million for entertaining the likes of Usher, Lindsay Lohan and Gaddafi Jr.

Marc Lamont Hill, a Columbia University media professor, said on CNN: “Beyonce’s handlers usually make really good decisions about where she’s going to perform…

“So it seems to me that someone was asleep at the wheel, or the money was so overwhelming that they said: ‘Screw the public image, we’re going to take the cash.’”

While the marriage of Beyonce’s marriage is on the outs, the singer’s marriage to rapper Jay-Z seems to be getting stronger, especially with the couple’s latest move. The twosome will now be known as Shawn Knowles-Carter and Beyonce Knowles-Carter. A source explains the newly hyphenated names, saying “They want to keep Knowles because Bey’s parents didn’t have any sons and they’re keen to keep the name going strong, especially if they don’t produce any sprogs themselves. Or if they end up just having girls.” Talk about being crazy in love! Here’s to hoping that their relationship indeed lasts the trials of being celebrities.

Lady Gaga was recently named MTV News’ Woman of the Year and beat out the likes of Taylor Swift, Britney Spears and Beyonce. As they put it, “There’s no one who challenged, provoked, entertained and, well, titillated us over the past 12 months quite like she has.” There’s no argument from me! The princess of pop deserves it so very much! However, if any of the other three singers won the award, they pretty much deserve it too because they fit the bill. It’s just that if you rank them all, Lady Gaga is clearly at the top of the mountain.

Beyonce is one of the acts confirmed to perform at next year’s Grammy Awards in LA.

The singer will entertain the crowd at LA’s Staples Center on January 31 along with Black Eyed Peas and Taylor Swift.

Meanwhile, Beyonce is vying for 10 awards at the 2010 ceremony, while Taylor Swift has received eight nominations.

British acts Depeche Mode, Coldplay, Imogen Heap and The Ting Tings are also among the nominees.

The nominations were read out earlier this month by rap star LL Cool J.

Beyonce has been one busy bee this past year or so. That’s why in 2010, the singer has decided to take some well deserved time off to actually enjoy the city in which she lives in. She has announced that she will be taking several months off from being in the entertainment lime light and start exploring New York and the rest of the world. Beyonce said “I’m going to take – hopefully – a couple of months off. I’m not going to plan anything. I’ll perhaps take some art classes, I’ll visit some museums and I’ll check out some shows on Broadway. I’d like to travel somewhere – maybe back to Egypt – without anyone, without any security, and focus on things I’ve always wanted to do myself.” I doubt that the paparazzi would leave her alone during her so-called alone time.

There’s a new music video out for the song ‘Fresh Out the Oven’ by Lola, more famously known as Jennifer Lopez. The singer also happens t call the song as “just a warm up track”. The song, featuring rapper Pitbull, which was first released in teaser clips online last month, will not be on the Latina’s upcoming album but it’s an idea of what we can expect from her new music. She also said that Lola isn’t a Sasha Fierce type of alter ego like Beyonce’s. it’s being said that the name is actually hubby Marc Anthony’s nickname for her.

Beyonce is featured on the cover of Billboard magazine and was named ‘Woman of the Year’. The singer’s father and manager, Matthew Knowles, talked to the magazine about what the future holds for his daughter, to which he replied “I can’t predict. But I hope she will be enjoying the fruits of her labor with a continuing mix of music, film, corporate projects; helping others as she does now; and moving into other endeavors like maybe painting. Most people don’t know this, but she’s a really good painter. Family is also important to her. I see her having a long-lasting career but hopefully not working as hard as she is now.”

Singer Beyonce’s new fragrance is set to hit shops in Spring 2010.

Celebrity fragrance factory Coty will stock the former Destiny’s Child members scent and the deal could earn the Halo singer up to US$20 million over three years.

The wife of rapper Jay-Z told WWD: “For me, fragrance reflects a woman’s attitude and unique sense of style.”

She added: “While I love various perfumes, I haven’t found a scent that truly personifies me as a woman. Working with Coty, I was able to turn my ideal fragrance into a reality by creating an alluring and sophisticated fragrance; one that’s reflective of my inner power.”

Having previously been the face of massive perfumes such as Tommy Hilfiger’s True Star, the star will now be the face of her own fragrance.

Beyonce, Kanye West and Keri Hilson are all up for Mobo awards next month, the nominations reveal.

The ceremony will be held in Glasgow, Scotland on September 30, which is the first time that awards have been held out of London in 14 years.

X Factor winner Alexandra Burke and runners-up JLS are competing again in the Best Newcomer category with British rapper Chipmunk, leading the nominations with four nods.

Rapper Jay-Z, Beyonce, Kanye West, Lady GaGa and Keri Hilson are all up against each other for the coveted Best International Act award.

Kanya King, the CEO and Founder of MOBO, said: “The fact that we are holding the awards in Glasgow this year is testament to the fact that MOBO Music is the sound of Britain as a whole.

“The reception from Scotland has been great and we cannot wait to put on our show up there.”
