The member of country singing group Big & Rich turned himself in to the Metro Davidson County Criminal Justice Center in Nashville, Tennessee last week to face misdemeanor charges of assault and harassment stemming from an alleged altercation between John and Jared. Both have filed civil lawsuits against each other, Jared sued for the alleged assault and John sued back for defamation. In a statement released by his lawyers, the singer claims that he can’t settle with Jared and that he’d rather defend himself “through the legal process to the fullest extent of the law. I trust that the truth will come out through the process of our American justice system and that I will be completely exonerated at the end of the day.”

Country music superstar John Rich of the band Big & Rich believes that gays and lesbians are merely second class citizens that do not deserve to be granted equal rights. It’s not really any news, I just think it’s sad and so close-minded.

The Tennessean got an interview with him and John said he is a supporter of Fred Thompson’s presidential bid because he is a conservative who agrees with Fred’s voting record of being pro-life and being against gay marriage. John told the paper, “I think if you legalize that, you’ve got to legalize some other things that are pretty unsavory.”
