Nelly Furtado is set to release her first album recorded entirely in Spanish. The singer has already done some work in non-English music scene with two duets with Columbian singer Juanes. Nelly has also announced plans for a Portuguese album on her MySpace blog. It’s good to branch out. And if her songs with Juanes are any indication, she’s going to do a pretty good job with her new venture. Let’s not forget that Nelly is also Portuguese. Latin music is pretty much in her blood. I wish her the best of luck with this new facet of her career.
Taylor Swift recently went to her official blog to talk about love songs. More importantly, she talked about sad love songs. Me thinks she was listening to them as therapy for having been dumped by Joe Jonas over the phone. Who wouldn’t be depressed after that? She said “I just got back from a 5 show run on the road. Now I’m sitting in my kitchen..on the counter. Eating cool whip. And trying to think of things to do with my free time. Other than talking to my cat and making playlists of sad songs.

Rihanna proves that she’s the new Princess of Pop as her latest single ‘Take a Bow’ had an opening week of 267,000 digital downloads which puts the track at the number one spot on the Hot Digital Songs chart in the US. Rihanna also made a huge rise to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 by jumping from #53 to #1. She has made the second highest jump in Billboard history with the highest going to Maroon 5 with ‘Makes Me Wonder’ which jumped from #64 to #1 last year. Rihanna also has 2 of the top 3 opening-week downloads in history. She was surpassed by Mariah Carey’s ‘Touch My Body’ with 286,000 downloads last month which beat Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’ with 277,000. At the rate she’s going, Rihanna will be beating out Mariah soon.
In a self-conscious fit last Friday, John Mayer deleted al of his past entries from his official blog and claimed to be “DONE & DUSTED & SELF-CONSCIOUS & BACK TO WORK.†But it seems that he has updated that latest and supposedly last entry on Saturday.
At the end of his last entry, the singer left a quote saying “There is danger in theoretical speculation of battle, in prejudice, in false reasoning, in pride, in braggadocio. There is one safe resource, the return to nature…†He linked the ‘n’ in speculation to a time travel forum. On Saturday, he updated the entry by removing that link and inserting a link on the entire work resource which links to a garbled webpage at Potatloland.com which has links to a lot of YouTube videos. It looks like John likes to play with our minds.
The start of the Spice Girls world tour is only a few weeks away yet we haven’t heard anything regarding their practices and whatnot. But just to keep us all entertained and interested, Posh Spice is back with a blog entry on the girls’ official website.
In it, she talks about her guest appearance on ‘Ugly Betty’, the upcoming Victoria’s Secret fashion show as well as her charity work with Children in Need. But most importantly, she talks about what’s up with rehearsals and such.
Everything seems to be going alright and she seems to be very excited, even sharing that her family now laughs at her for practicing her routines around the house. She also gushed about the clothes that Roberto Cavalli is working on for their tour. Now, I’m just as excited as her!
