Country Stars Raise Over $1 Million

The ‘Music City Keep on Playin – A Benefit for Flood Relief’ telethon in Nashville was able to raise more than $1.7 million with the city’s country stars at the helm of the relief effort. Brad Paisley and his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, co-hosted the show and donated $100,000 themselves. Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman were also at the event working the phone lines. The singer said “This town has been good to us. We had our little girl Sunday Rose here, and we are going over there [to the call center] to do our part.” Brad, Keith, Dierks Bentley, Lady Antebellum, Sheryl Crow and Martina McBride all played to a sold-out audience at the Ryman Auditorium as part of the benefit.

Chely Wright Talks Brad Paisley

Chely Wright, who recently publicly came out as a lesbian, opened up in her new book ‘Like Me’ about struggling to come to terms with her sexuality while dating fellow country singer Brad Paisley. She wrote “I have not been ashamed of myself often, but I am ashamed of myself for choosing to be so cruel to another human being. Perhaps this book and my coming out will help him to understand.” Chely explains that while she did love Brad, she wasn’t in love with him and would cry “during those moments of physical intimacy.” Apparently, Brad was actually so serious about their relationship that he had marriage in mind. It was an awful situation where both parties lose. I hope Brad can understand.

Carrie Underwood Opens ACM Awards

Carrie Underwood attended the 2010 ACM Awards which was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena this past Sunday in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 27-year old American Idol alum turned successful country singer opened up the ceremony with fellow artists Miranda Lambert, Charlie Daniels, Brad Paisley and John Fogerty with a sizzling rendition of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s ‘Traveling Band’. Carrie took the stage again some time later in the night to sing her song ‘Temporary Home’. Carrie was nominated for Album of the Year for ‘Play On’, Song of the Year for ‘Cowboy Casanova’, Vocal Event of the Year for ‘I Told You So’, Top Female Vocalist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year. Mind you, Carrie raked in a couple of those trophies!

American Idol champ Carrie Underwood joined Brad Paisley in a live special tribute to country music legend Eddy Arnold during the 43rd Annual Academy of County Music Awards which was held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday. The event was hosted by Reba McEntire for the tenth time and was attended by country music’s best. Carrie being chosen to be part of the tribute shows just how much she has grown as an artist since her American Idol days. The show works – for some people that is. And Carrie’s a big sweetheart anyway. Everyone absolutely loves her.
