Hilary Duff has announced that she is engaged to hockey player Mike Comrie, who the singer/actress has been dating for more than two years. The jock popped the question in Maui last week but there has been no date set for the wedding just yet. Congratulations you two! What is up with hockey players these days and getting engaged? Carrie Underwood recently got a proposal from her hockey player beau Mike Fisher. I wonder if either of the females would want to have a double wedding. That should make the planning easier – unless of course they have very opposing opinions.

The 28-year old country newcomer also belted out her first single ‘Giddy on Up’ as well as debuting a new song called ‘Boyfriend’. If you haven’t heard about the singer yet and would want an idea of what she’s like, Laura is like Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift’s sexy big sister. She went back to Splash on Monday to host Musical Mondays. If you didn’t know, Laura actually started on Broadway.

Carrie Underwood shows off her sexy side as the country singer is featured on the cover of the March 2010 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine. The 26-year old American Idol alum talked about her fiancé Mike Fisher, his influence on her album ‘Play On’, meeting him for the first time, and balancing work and life. Carrie said that her hockey player beau gave her a lot of inspiration saying “He provided a lot of inspiration for songs, whether it was something he said or just by being supportive.” On having that balance between work and her life, she said “I didn’t want to be one of those people who has an amazing career but ends up alone and unhappy. I want to be happy. I want it all.”

Carrie Underwood is going back to TV to make her acting debut this spring as the country singer is scheduled to play a love interest for Ted on the show ‘How I Met Your Mother’. The American Idol alum’s character Tiffany is described as an “enigmatic pharmaceutical sales rep”. The show featuring Carrie will be airing some time in March. It would be safe to assume that she’s not the so-called mother in the title of the show as her stint is only for an episode. I wonder if Carrie Underwood can bring in the same ratings magic that Britney Spears’ guest appearances did.

Carrie Underwood flashed off her new engagement ring as she watched her fiancé, Mike Fisher of the Ottawa Senators, take on the Boston Bruins during an NHL hockey game in Canada earlier this week. A spokesperson from the Diamond Information Center says that the 26-year old country singer’s ring is estimated to be a five-plus carat brilliant round diamond with diamond side stones, worth over $150,000. I guess Mike is a big spender. But when you’ve got Carrie as your soon to be wife, who wouldn’t want to shower her with all the things that you can get your hands on?

Stars turn out for US TV special to raise awareness of adoption

Faith Hill, Mary J. Blige and Shakira were among the stars that performed in the annual Home For The Holidays US TV special last night.

Created to raise awareness of adoption, the show was presented by Hill, who, herself, was adopted as a child.

The TV special also featured reggae singer Michael Franti, also an adoptee, who performed Have A Little Faith.

Not to be left out, Carrie Underwood and Reba McEntire showed their support for the cause with performances.

As well as the music, the show features stories about children who have been adopted and those who are still waiting to join a loving family.

Hill (pictured) revealed that more than 10,000 children have been adopted as a direct or indirect result of Home For The Holidays.

The country music star then closed the show with a rendition of Little Drummer Boy.

The 26-year old American Idol alum talked about her biggest pet peeves, her ways to blow off some steam, and wanting to start a family. The singer, who is dating hockey player Mike Fisher, talked about family, saying “Not that I have a husband to have one with yet, but someday I’d like a family—not a big one, but not a small one either. Two kids is good; three is fine. Four? Somebody’s getting something done, because we ain’t having five!” The fact that she’s already talking like that makes me think that she’s ready to settle down with Mike.

And now, the country singer is telling Esquire exactly what she’s learned. The 26-year old talked about releasing ‘Jesus, Take the Wheel’, whether ‘Cowboy Casanova’ was about her Dallas Cowboys quarterback ex and being scared to leave home for American Idol. Carrie said “I was so nervous when I was on my way to L.A. I’d never been on a plane, and I was going alone. I kind of got teary-eyed. My dad was driving, and he said, ‘If you want to go home, we can go home, and you never have to think about this again.’ And I thought, if I don’t go, I’m choosing for this not to happen. It will be my choice. So I figured it would be easier for me to get kicked off American Idol than to have it be my own decision.”

The country singer’s new album ‘Play On’ has sold 318,000 copies which cements Carrie’s position in the number 1 spot on the Billboard album charts this week. This marks the second album of the American Idol alum to hit the top spot in the last two years. Carrie’s album ‘Carnival Ride’ managed to sell 527,000 in its debut week back in 2007. Her latest album’s impressive sales have made Carrie the female artist with the largest amount of sales in a week during 2009. What a week! Congratulations to Carrie for her accomplishments!

Country singer Carrie Underwood’s hit single ‘Cowboy Casanova’ is burning up the charts and she’s about to unleash another song off of her upcoming album ‘Play On’ which is out on November 3. The American Idol alum uses her new song ‘Mama’s Song’ to thank her mom for teaching her some very important lessons in life. Carrie Underwood Fights Breast Cancer

Country singer Carrie Underwood recently visited the Grand Ole Opry House to flip a switch to turn the backdrop pink to symbolize the fight against breast cancer in Nashville, Tennessee. The 26-year old Aemrican Idol alum told CMT “There are a lot of people out there who have been fighters and who have made it through cancer, but there are a lot of us who don’t want to have to go through that fight. Of course, nobody wants to, but we want to make sure that doesn’t happen, so we’re honoring the people who have been through it and who have made it through it. We’re supporting them, we’re raising awareness and we’re hoping to stop it in its tracks.”
