The 2011 Academy of Country Music Awards took place this past Sunday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. This year, the ceremony saw stellar performances not only by country music artists but also mainstream performers. Rihanna took the stage with Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles in a duet performance of the R&B/pop singer’s new single “California King Bed”. Taylor Swift delivered a wonderful performance of her ballad Mean”. And finally, Carrie Underwood totally stole the show with an electrifying performance of her hit “Undo It” and then had a duet with Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler on the rock classic “Walk This Way”. The crowd absolutely loved them!

Carrie Underwood’s new song – There’s a Place for Us

The country singer has been hard at work on a new song called “There’s a place for us” that will apparently will be featured on the soundtrack of the next “Chronicles of Narnia” movie. It’s a pretty mellow tune that starts out with piano and then works its way to a more complicated background of guitar, synth and what have you. Carrie Underwood doesn’t do too bad a job of singing it, but it’s not really extraordinary. It reminds of the many songs that used to feature on the old Dinsey movies so it’s probably perfect for its purpose. The lyrics seem to go hand in hand with the music with regards to complexity, originality and purpose. The next Narnia movie could’ve probably used something a bit more epic since it’s not really a cartoon.

Carrie Underwood and her newly wedded husband, pro hockey player Mike Fisher, were spotted catching a departing flight via LAX airport in Los Angeles this past Sunday. The happy couple was undoubtedly headed out of the country for their honeymoon, reportedly in Tahiti and Bora Bora. The country singer and her new hubby spared nothing on their wedding. The bride and her bridesmaids walked down the aisle in Monique Lhuillier dresses. They also reportedly closed down the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds Plantation in Georgia for the wedding. The whole event was said to have cost over half a million dollars! Wow! Oh to be rich and famous.

Here’s something you probably didn’t know about Carrie Underwood and how she eats. Apparently the country singer doesn’t go out for food… ever and especially when she’s on tour. This is what Carrie Underwood revealed recently on the matter: “I think the hardest thing about what I do is eating because we’re all over the place. It’s fast food, there’s aftershow food, you get pizza, whatever.I don’t do that. I don’t eat out ever. Every once in a while I have a day off and I might go to a restaurant — but no aftershow food and I keep my fridge stocked. It’s all about making a conscious effort. I don’t do anything crazy, but I definitely try to take care of myself.” But what sort of a country singer is she if she doesn’t indulge in at least one burger once in a while… that’s just un-American.

Carrie Underwood attended the 2010 ACM Awards which was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena this past Sunday in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 27-year old American Idol alum turned successful country singer opened up the ceremony with fellow artists Miranda Lambert, Charlie Daniels, Brad Paisley and John Fogerty with a sizzling rendition of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s ‘Traveling Band’. Carrie took the stage again some time later in the night to sing her song ‘Temporary Home’. Carrie was nominated for Album of the Year for ‘Play On’, Song of the Year for ‘Cowboy Casanova’, Vocal Event of the Year for ‘I Told You So’, Top Female Vocalist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year. Mind you, Carrie raked in a couple of those trophies!

Adam Lambert to Mentor on American Idol

It has been confirmed that Adam Lambert will be returning to American Idol as a music mentor next week. I have to ask – why? I don’t mean to belittle him but there are loads more AI alums that are more successful than he is like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, heck, even Clay Aiken! Oh well, it’s their crappy show. Producers from the reality TV talent show confirm the participation of last season’s runner up but there’s no word on a theme yet. Considering who and how he is, I’m going to guess that it will have something to do with rock and roll.

It seems all is not well with Carrie Underwood’s upcoming wedding as she and her fiancée, Mark Fisher, are too busy with work to plan their own wedding. This is what Carrie Underwood said on the matter: “There’s a lot going on. They are still in the season. They actually only have a few more season games left. I’m touring until the end of June, and have a few shows in July, so we’re working on it here and there. We have a few things coming along.” A patched up wedding… and Carrie Underwood had such high hopes and great plans. Oh well, it’s still better than no wedding… or is it?

Carrie Underwood’s Equipment Driver Dies in Crash

The man who hauls equipment for country singer Carrie Underwood’s concert died in a fiery crash on Saturday morning. Witnesses saw a tractor-trailer veer off the left shoulder of the highway and scrape 400 feet along the guardrail. The damage ripped open the truck’s fuel tank, diesel ignited and flames engulfed the driver’s part of the rig in the flames. It then careened into a bridge abutment. It has been reported that the driver’s body was burned so badly that he will have to be identified by his dental records. He was on his way to Foxwoods Casino’s MGM Grand Theater in Mashantucket. Carrie went on with her show but took a moment to pay tribute to the man by singing ‘Temporary Home’.

Carrie Underwood shows off her sexy side as the country singer is featured on the cover of the March 2010 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine. The 26-year old American Idol alum talked about her fiancé Mike Fisher, his influence on her album ‘Play On’, meeting him for the first time, and balancing work and life. Carrie said that her hockey player beau gave her a lot of inspiration saying “He provided a lot of inspiration for songs, whether it was something he said or just by being supportive.” On having that balance between work and her life, she said “I didn’t want to be one of those people who has an amazing career but ends up alone and unhappy. I want to be happy. I want it all.”
