Watch Out for Kate Voegele

Singer and songwriter Kate Voegele appeared at a Verizon Wireless store to sign autographs on Wednesday in New York City. She was joined by Natasha Bedingfield and the Veronicas, for whom she’s opening for on tour. The 21-year old Kate was recently spotlighted by Entertainment Weekly as being the best of “the new golden age of female singer-songwriters” while Billboard has hailed her as “An Artist to Watch in ‘08”. The experts are already saying that we’re going to fall in love with Kate this year and after hearing her songs, I’m not doubting them. Kate is definitely going to be big.

Tim McGraw Sends ‘Em Home

The cowboy doesn’t like ‘em rowdy. And he doesn’t like when men are mean to women either. He proved both at a concert in Auburn, Washington.

As he sang “Indian Outlaw”, a bit of chaos broke out near the front. Apparently Tim saw an aggressive male fan hit a female fan, and Tim didn’t take took kindly to that. He yelled, “Get rid of this guy! Security!”

But security didn’t move fast enough for Tim, so he grabbed the guy, pulled him on stage, and held him until they could get him. Needless to say, he was escorted from the concert.

Janet Jackson Confirms Tour

ellen-janet-jackson.jpg
Janet Jackson officially announced on The Ellen DeGeneres show on Monday that she will be returning to the stage for her ‘Rock with U’ concert tour after having a 7-year hiatus off of the road. Janet said “I’m here to kick off my ‘Rock With U’ tour. Our first show is September 10. And I’ve set up a number for fans to call in and to leave what old/new songs you’d like to hear [at the concert]. The number’s 323-622-8139. Give me a call and let me know!” Ellen’s audience got two tickets each to catch Janet’s show. Ellen also asked if there’s a possibility of a Jackson 5 reunion to which Janet replied optimistically saying “I hope so. I’ve been really pushing my brothers and having conference calls and working on it.”

Madonna Earns Big in Dubai

Posted in Concert Tour, Divas, Live Music, Madonna by Amanda @ Apr 21, 2008

madonna-dubai.jpg
Madonna is truly raking in the money. Apart from having her multi million Live Nation deal and having one of the biggest hits all over the world with ‘4 Minutes (To Save the World)’, the Queen of Pop is reportedly about to close a deal to play 2 concerts in the money rich place of Dubai. The deal is worth $25 million! For 2 gigs? Damn! A source close to the negotiations has stated that “Madonna is about to break another record by playing the most lucrative concert of her whole career – or anyone’s career for that matter.” Does anyone else want to have Madonna’s life for a day?

Matchbox 20 Don’t Like Cows

matchbox-20.jpg

Matchbox 20 is canceling a show at Cheyenne Frontier Days, which bills itself as the world’s biggest outdoor rodeo, over their newfound concern for the animals involved. You would think that they wouldn’t schedule a show their since it’s a rodeo. The band’s front man Rob Thomas and his wife Marisol posted a statement on the band’s website regarding the matter. “We ask that (fans) please understand that it would be impossible for us to put ourselves in the position of making money from what we believe to be the mistreatment of animals.” Ironically, the band is still scheduled to perform at the North Dakota State Fair which also includes rodeo events.

Prince charges for impromptu gig

Prince charged fans $200 a ticket for a surprise concert.

The musician performed the impromptu set at Hollywood’s Green Door bar on Wednesday night in front of 250 people, all of who had to pay in cash for the privilege.

The 49-year-old star appeared on stage just after midnight and performed a selection of his greatest hits, including ‘1999′, ‘Let’s Go Crazy’, ‘Cream’ and ‘Kiss’. He also treated fans to a cover of Herbie Hancock’s ‘Chameleon’, before closing the show with ‘Purple Rain’.

A host of celebrities were in the audience, including pop star Pink, actress Tara Reid, Melanie Griffith and British soccer star-turned-actor Vinnie Jones.

Prince had performed a surprise concert at the venue two weeks earlier.

On that occasion he did not charge an entrance fee. Yesterday, it was reported Prince will be paid a whopping $4.8 million to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California on April 25.

Celine Dion in Australia

Celine Dion in Australia

Celine Dion performed on stage at the Acer Arena this past Saturday in Sydney, Australia. The Canadian Grammy Award-winning singer opened up the show by singing ‘I Drove All Night’ and followed it up with her classic ‘The Power of Love’. I’ll give you three guesses as to what her final song was and the last two guesses don’t count. Is anyone even going to wonder why she would sing the ‘Titanic’ anthem ‘My Heart Will Go On’? No one can deny that the piece is classic and timeless – even if it can get a bit sickening if played over and over.

Madonna bags Kylie Minogue tour pair

madonna.jpg

Kylie Minogue is in a spin after Madonna poached her choreographers on the eve of the Aussie’s big comeback tour.

Madonna snapped up the Talaguega Brothers – Richmond and Tone – despite the pair agreeing to work with the Pop Pincess on her KYLIEX2008 dates, which start on May 6. And the move shows an announcement of Madonna’s tour dates is just around the corner.

A source revealed: “Rich and Tone are hot property. “They had agreed to do Kylie’s tour but then Madonna came calling. You don’t turn down the Queen Of Pop – even if you’ve made an arrangement with the Princess.”

The move sent Kylie’s team into a panic.

Michael Rooney – who worked on the Spice Girls’ comeback tour – was due to share the choreography duties with the dance duo but now takes sole responsibility.

Madge swooped when she began to finalize her tour plans to follow the April 28 release of album Hard Candy.

My source revealed: “Rich and Tone worked with Madonna on her world tour in 2006.By the time she realized she wanted them again they had agreed to go with Kylie. But Madge won.”

The pair were discovered free styling at a club in California. They have also worked with Diana Ross, Pink, J-lo, Black Eyed Peas, X-Tina Aguilera and Gwen Stefani.

Now they’re living every man’s dream – being caught in a tug of love between Kylie and Madonna

Avril Concert or Bust

Last Thursday, Avril Lavigne partied the night away with her Sum 41 front man of a husband Deryck Whibley during one of the band’s after parties. But come Saturday night, I’m sure Avril was looking for a stiff drink to drive the blues away. If you recall, tickets for her concert in Buffalo, New York went on a major sale. But even though that was the case, the arena still turned out to be more empty than full. It’s really a sad situation that could break some hearts. But considering that this happened to Avril, it really just makes me want to laugh.

Jonas Brothers Go Big Time

Jonas Brothers Go Big Time

The Jonas Brothers are growing up so fast! *sniffs* It only seems like yesterday when the band of brothers started to open tours for Miley ‘Hannah Montana’ Cyrus. And it’s just recently that they went out on their own ‘When You Look Me in the Eyes’ tour. On Wednesday, the musical siblings have just announced a new tour – the ‘Burning Up’ tour. For the first time ever, Nick, Kevin and Joe are going to headline amphitheaters across North America this summer. The tour kicks off on July 4 in Toronto and will end on August 31 in Vermont. They’ve gotten really big.

Kelly Clarkson Rocks Out Down Under

Kelly Clarkson continues to work hard and it seems like it’s paying off. The original American Idol rocked out the Entertainment Centre in Sydney, Australia last Thursday night. Over the weekend, the 25-year old singer performed at two more locations in Australia, more specifically, the Newcastle Entertainment Centre in Broadmeadow, New South Wales and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Boondall, Queensland. Opening the show for Kelly in Australia was none other than Mandy Moore who spoke about wanting to perform in Australia for quite some time. After her stint in Australia, Kelly went off to jolly old England for the European leg of her tour.

Trouble for Akon

Trouble for Akon
It seems that trouble follows Akon wherever he goes. The singer’s free concert at a shopping mall in Copenhagen, Denmark on Wednesday erupted into a riot. His Danish fans got all violent when police tried to evacuate the venue due to a fire alarm alert just three songs into Akon’s set. Violence escalated outside when concertgoers started throwing rocks and bottles at the cops. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.

Add to that, trouble was already brewing even before the riot. The capacity at the venue was only 1,000. However, 3,000 people showed up. Good thing a stampede didn’t occur.

Karen O’s New Do

Karen O. has never looked better! The Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer showed off her sexy new haircut when she performed with her band at the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam over the weekend. Wait, did I just say sexy? Uh, I take that back.

To be quite honest, I wasn’t even sure whether this was a female when I first saw the picture. Heck, I thought it was Jared Leto! And you can’t tell me that there’s no facial hair on this so-called woman. Suffice to say, I am very confused with this one. How do you go about describing this really?

Dolly Parton’s breasts force tour cancellation

Dolly Parton’s breasts force tour cancellation

Dolly Parton’s world-famous breasts have forced her to postpone her upcoming tour.

The ‘9 to 5′ singer, who was due to begin her North American tour at the end of this month, has been told by doctors to rest because of the damage her huge DD chest was doing to her back.

The surgically-enhanced star said: “Hey, you try wagging these puppies around a while and see if you don’t have back problems.”

Dolly, whose latest album ‘Backwoods Barbie’ is her first mainstream country LP in 17 years, will now have to take it easy for up to eight weeks but is hoping to be back on the road by April.

In 2004, Dolly revealed she was considering having a breast reduction to relieve the pressure on her back. The ‘Jolene’ singer said: “My boobs are killing me - and I don’t know if I can stand the pain any longer. They have been a trademark for me, but I’ve paid one hell of a price.”

Jonas Brothers Meet the Brinkleys

Jonas Brothers Meet the Brinkleys

The Jonas Brothers met another famous family backstage at their Atlantic City, New Jersey concert. They met the family of 53-year old supermodel Christie Brinkley. They took time to pose with Christie’s 12-year old son Jack Paris (far right) and 9-year old daughter Sailor Lee (standing next to Joe) and some other friends.

The picture was taken just a little before Joe tripped and ran into a wall while taping a YouTube video for the group’s video channel. He got a few stitches and is doing fine. Miley Cyrus was also seen backstage. There was no sign of the fake Hannah though.

Miley Cyrus Gets Faked

Posted in Concert Tour, Disney, Ticket Sales by Amanda @ Jan 5, 2008

Miley Cyrus Gets Faked

A 6-year old girl won four tickets to a Hannah Montana concert in New York with an essay that claimed her “daddy died this year in Iraq”. It’s a heartbreaking story, if only it were true.

Priscilla Ceballos, the mother of the young girl, told the company sponsoring the contest that the girl’s father died April 17 in Iraq. When asked if the story was true, the mother said no. Ceballos told FOX 4 in Dallas “We never said this was a true story. We do essays all the time. My daughter does essays at school all the time. It never did say it had to be true, but [the contest organizer] said, ‘That’s what we expected.’” Well duh! There’s still no decision as to whether the girl can keep the tickets.

DND Tori Amos

DND Tori Amos

Here’s a word of advice when going to see Tori Amos: do not disturb her when she’s working. Two fans learned that lesson the hard way when they ended up on the wrong end of a verbal smack down from the singer before they were unceremoniously booted from her Wednesday night concert in San Diego. The piano player was in mid song when she suddenly lashed out at the girls saying “It’s a privilege to sit in the front row. I reserve those seats for people who appreciate music. Get the f— out!”

A rep from Tori’s record label explains the comment saying “Tori doesn’t sell front row seats to her shows. She’ll pick fans that are in the back row and she will upgrade them. It is a privilege to get picked. Apparently these two girls were on their cell phones all night… It was her sticking up for her other fans that missed out on the opportunity.”

Miley Cyrus Extended

Miley Cyrus Extended

When you’ve found a way to make some money, you’re going to stick to it and milk it for what it’s worth for as long as you can. Disney is doing just that when it comes to a big capitalist ploy that they’d like to call Miley Cyrus aka Hannah Montana.

Billy Ray Cyrus’ spawn is extending her ‘Best of Both Worlds’ tour which happens to be one of the hottest tickets of the year. Fourteen more performances have been added in January. Tickets go on sale this Saturday and just like the previous dates, they’re likely to be sold out in mere seconds and end up on eBay for ridiculous amounts of money.

It’s Over for Justin Timberlake

It’s Over for JT

After traveling all over the globe and dragging his girlfriend Jessica Biel and his family along for the ride, Justin Timberlake’s massive world tour finally came to an end on Thursday. That’s all folks! The superstar closed his FutureSex/LoveShow’ World Tour in the grounds of the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. That’s a long way from home!

But now that it’s over, I’m wondering whether Justin’s acting like a jackass would end along with it. It’s Christmas time, let’s hope it does. But if his actions are anything to go by, all we’re going to be doing is hoping against hope.

Spice Girls Reunion Tour

Spice Girls Reunion Tour

It’s really official! The Spice Girls are not only back together but they are back on the road! The five-strong girl group from the UK kicked off their world tour on Sunday in Vancouver and they looked gorgeous!

It really looked like they spared no expense when it comes to their costumes as each new one they put on made them all look uniquely fabulous. What’s more beautiful than that is the fact that they made good on their promise that they would be singing live for the tour. They worked that show just as hard as when ‘girl power’ first hit big.

Whitney Houston Live & Loud

Whitney Houston Live & Loud

Whitney Houston made her big comeback at the Live & Loud music festival in Malaysia on Saturday. While it’s admirable that she’s determined to get back on stage, a lot of people are wishing that she had more time to prepare.

Reviews on her comeback performance are making the rounds already. People are saying that Whitney’s set at the festival was probably the most anticipated of all performances. They were rather disappointed however when she sang just 3-4 songs. There’s no definite number there because she barely got through some of the songs. They say she sounded ok but she got husky and even sounded like Amy Winehouse at some point.

The Jackson Comeback

The Jackson Comeback

Is it comeback season? While we can all expect Britney and Whitney try to make a comeback, the thought of the Jackson Five reuniting never even crossed my mind. But according to Jermaine Jackson, little brother Michael is set to rejoin the band of brothers for a world tour next year. There’s even talk of baby sister Janet joining them on the road!

Jermaine was in the UK these past couple of days and he told reporters that “We feel we have to do it one more time. We owe that to the fans and to the public.”

I didn’t know people were looking for them to reunite.

Winehouse Booed

Winehouse Booed

I know. It’s Amy Winehouse. Again. But she just keeps popping up. I have been able to write something about this girl for days now. And today is just another chapter in the Amy-Drug saga.

At her London performance at the Hammersmith Apollo on the 24th, the troubled singer took to the stage; only to slur her way through most of her songs and cut her set short. Fans were left wondering what they had paid for, and indeed many demanded a refund. One fan said, “I paid to see Amy, not some spaced out girl wandering the stage. She needs help”.

Amy, despite claiming you are clean, we don’t believe you. And we will only stick around for so long before you become some washed out junkie who used to be famous.

In her tour, which ends Dec 17th, Winehouse’s next gig is tonight at the Brighton Centre. I wish all of those with tickets luck; I hope Amy is on form and doesn’t repeat Saturday’s behaviour.

Kylie Minogue still got it

Kylie Minogue still got it

The Australian diva looked like she gave up her musical carrier after a long 4 year pause from international stages. But her latest project, compiled along with the Gorillaz, turned out to be a huge hit.Reviewed by Billboard on Friday, Minogue’s performance achieved astonishing results. She succeeded in dazzling the whole world, showing up in such a perfect shape and proving such great will to make incredible pop music.

Kylie has just finished her courageous battle against cancer. I think that out of most current music stars, she is one of the few that deserve our entire attention and appreciation.

R. Kelly Tour Will Go On Without Ne-Yo

Ne-Yo

Well, it was a great two-show deal.

According to his rep, Ne-Yo will no longer be a part of the R. Kelly tour. Ne-Yo states, “I am disappointed that I won’t be able to perform for my fans. I love being onstage because of the immediate feedback you get. You know right away if they are feeling you - and they were really feeling our show.”

Word was given to Ne-Yo’s posse on Monday that he would be let go from the remainder of the tour. Apparently, the two could not reach an agreement on a contract. Kelly’s spokesperson told MTV News, “This was a contractual issue between Ne-Yo and the promoter, not Kelly’s decision at all.” Ne-Yo believed, as of Sunday, that all issues had been resolved.

Not to worry, though. Ne-Yo’s got plenty of other activities to keep him busy. The Vegas singer/songwriter performed with Rihanna on Sunday at the American Music Awards. He announced the masquarade ball that his Compound Foundation would be hosting, and he appeared on World Children’s Day for the Ronald McDonald House. He even appeared in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Ne-Yo isn’t the first performer to be dropped early from an R. Kelly tour. In 2004, Kelly’s tour with Jay-Z ended early. Apparently when you sign to tour with Kelly, you do so at your own risk.

Spice Girls Performance 2

Spice Girls Performance 2

On Thursday night, the Spice Girls did their first ever performance in nearly ten years at the 2007 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. And just like that, the ball gets rolling on their comeback.

Come Friday, the Girls once again performed live from Los Angeles on BBC One’s Children in Need special. The girls sang the same two songs they did the night prior, ‘Stop’ and ‘Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)’. They lipsynched again but who cares, it’s for charity anyway.

Their latest single is also actually the official single of Children in Need. Profits raised from sales of the singe will go to the charity. So buy away.

Kelly Tours Some More

Kelly Tours Some More

Kelly Clarkson is about to work her not-so-impressive songs much more as she and country legend Reba McEntire are reportedly going on tour together. The joint tour will kick off on January 17th in Dayton, Ohio and ends by February 16th in Kansas City, Missouri.

That’s 1 night, 1 band, 2 singers. Too bad everyone will have to sit through all the crappy songs from Kelly’s new album with a few sprinkles of her past hits but we’ve all got Reba to look out for.

Kelly has been a lifelong fan of Reba and even hired Reba’s husband as her new manager this year.

Another Spice Blog

Another Spice Blog

The start of the Spice Girls world tour is only a few weeks away yet we haven’t heard anything regarding their practices and whatnot. But just to keep us all entertained and interested, Posh Spice is back with a blog entry on the girls’ official website.

In it, she talks about her guest appearance on ‘Ugly Betty’, the upcoming Victoria’s Secret fashion show as well as her charity work with Children in Need. But most importantly, she talks about what’s up with rehearsals and such.

Everything seems to be going alright and she seems to be very excited, even sharing that her family now laughs at her for practicing her routines around the house. She also gushed about the clothes that Roberto Cavalli is working on for their tour. Now, I’m just as excited as her!

Winehouse Trainwreck Stops in Birmingham

Winehouse Trainwreck Stops in Birmingham

We’re guessing this isn’t how Amy Winehouse—and her handlers—envisioned her grand comeback. Just hours after paying her first visit to hubby Blake Fielder-Civil in prison, the “Rehab” singer kicked off the first night of her oft-delayed U.K. tour Wednesday, slurring her way through lyrics, insulting the audience and walking off stage midsong.
It doesn’t matter how good she is. The music industry is littered with more “one hit wonders” than with success stories. If she wants to throw it away, let her. I’m sure there are a million more just waiting to take her place and with equal or better talent. Just do it on your own time, please, Amy. She hasn’t even “made it” all the way yet and she’s screwing it up already. I think the girl is talented and I like her music. It’s lovely what drugs and boozing does to anyone (lol) but to see someone be given a chance to succeed and screw it up is just pitiful.
