Rihanna made her triumphant return to the concert stage at the Nokia X6 launch party in London earlier this week where she performed songs from her upcoming album ‘Rated R’. The Barbadian singer looked absolutely fierce during her performance. It’s a great thing too because I’m pretty sure the audience needed a big distraction from those less than great tracks of hers. Honestly, did she pick these tracks out of a hat and just decided to put them on her album without actually listening to them? I’m so disappointed that I’m not even sure if I’m going to buy her new album.

John Mayer Talks Gay Bars

In an attempt to diffuse his alleged same sex kiss at a Palm Springs gay bar last month, John Mayer talks about his love of dance-friendly establishments. The singer said “If you are a man in life and you haven’t gone to a gay bar, you haven’t really danced… you can actually have a great time without worrying in this sort of alpha-dog defensive position of like, who’s over here, who’s gonna try and come up, and who’s gonna talk shit, and who’s gonna do this and do that. You can actually just go and have a great time. We did have such a great time, to hear that somebody had written a story that I was getting kisses planted on me, it just sort of reduces it to that real stereotypical.”

In a rare public appearance together, Cheryl Cole and her husband Ashley ventured out for a night out in London but ended up fighting. After the singer’s performance at the Children in Need concert, the couple went to the Mayfair Hotel along with Girls Aloud band mate Nicola Roberts and her boyfriend. A source said “They were all sat around the table having a really good time. They were drinking and appeared really relaxed as they laughed and joked.” It didn’t last long though. Since Ashley’s infidelity two years ago, they haven’t been the same. A friend said “They still have the occasional moment of fun but they both know, particularly Cheryl, that this isn’t going to be forever. The pattern of their relationship seems to be that she achieves something and she spends the next three or four days massaging his ego and building him up again. Supporting Cheryl doesn’t sit well with Ashley’s need to be alpha male.”

Tim McGraw recently had an interview with People magazine. The country singer talked about his wife, Faith Hill, and how important she is in his life. He said “Faith saved my life in a lot of ways. From myself more than anything. I can go down a dark road sometimes. When you’re not feeling good about yourself, and she pulls me out. My wife makes me a better man.” It takes a real man to say that he needs a woman to get himself together. They’ve been married for a long time. It’s great to see that they’ve made things work for such a long time in celebrity standards. More power to them!

Gavin Rossdale recently had an interview with People magazine where he talked about what he and his family will be doing this coming holiday season. The 44-year old singer explained “We alternate each year. Last year we stayed in the Los Angeles area, but now we’re excited about having an old-fashioned, European holiday.” Gwen Stefani’s doting husband also talked about their sons, saying “The kids are better and funnier than ever… Fatherhood is everything they say it is and more. I love it.” And he does it all while still looking like his hot self. I’m pretty sure a lot of ladies have labelled Gavin as a DILF.

Simon Cowell has become addicted to the dessert Angel Delight, according to pal Sinitta.

Simon, 50, recently came in for some criticism for his judging decisions on UK talent show The X Factor and his pal and former girlfriend Sinitta, 41, said he has been showing signs of the pressure.

She said in her column in Reveal magazine: “Simon’s behaviour is even stranger. He’s suddenly become addicted to eating strawberry Angel Delight in his dressing room.

“He now carries around his mobile, fags and a packet of the instant pudding. Weird!”

Lady Gaga is inviting her fans to submit their own videos to be included in her 2009-2010 world tour. The website describes the fan project as “The inspiration is sharp, simple and brutal: the Apocalypse, symbolic of both destruction and rebirth. Lady Gaga, Nick Knight and Ruth Hobgen will select video imagery from the submissions, and the videos will then be spliced together and reinvented as exclusive imagery, played alongside Lady Gaga’s spectacular live performances across the globe. In line with new contributions, video pieces will be constantly re-edited and engineered as new submissions are received throughout the tour’s 44-date marathon run, in a constant creative renewal.”

Tokio Hotel Singer in Accident

Tokio Hotel’s Bill Kaulitz is lucky to be alive! The band’s lead singer was in a serious car accident last week while he was driving his Audi Q4 on the streets of Germany. He said “I was alone in the car on my way to Berlin. Normally I’m a very careful driver, have never been in an accident and never speed. Suddenly another car pulled into my lane without indicating. Trying to avoid it I lost control over the wheel.” Bill hit the guardrails but he managed to escape unharmed. While it’s an unfortunate event, it has made his appreciate his life, saying “In moments like that we notice what is really important and to cherish one’s life anew.”

Madonna has finally met the mother of her toyboy lover Jesus Luz, according to reports.

Hairdresser Cristiane Regina Da Silva, who is 15 years younger than the pop star, was spotted arriving at the singer’s hotel in Rio de Janeiro looking dressed to impress.

It is further proof that the relationship, initially dismissed as a fling, is going strong as it approaches the one-year mark.

Madonna arrived in Brazil on Monday, ostensibly to meet various officials about setting up a children’s charity in the country.

But the trip has been surrounded by rumours she was finally due to meet her 23-year-old lover’s parents.

Cristiane was seen arriving at Hotel Fasano with Jesus’ agent Peterson Ibrahim one evening earlier this week.

At the time Jesus and Madonna were out to dinner, and it is thought the 36-year-old arrived early to meet the pop star in an informal way following the meal.

Although initially critcising the pair’s age difference and Madonna’s apparent controlling behaviour, Cristiane would seem to have warmed to the relationship.

Jesus’ dad, hospital worker Luiz Heitor Pinto da Luz, has not been seen near the pair or at the hotel.

Mariah Carey will not appear on UK show Strictly Come Dancing after X Factor’s Simon Cowell told her rep she could not appear on both shows

Mariah Carey has pulled out of an appearance on UK show Strictly Come Dancing after X Factor’s Simon Cowell told her reps she could not appear on both shows.

The 40-year-old singer will sing on The X Factor on November 22 and was ‘provisionally booked’ to appear on its rival show Strictly Come Dancing a day earlier.

However, she pulled out after X Factor boss Cowell, 50, told her reps she could not appear on both the channels that weekend leaving Strictly bosses furious.

A BBC spokesperson said: “We had hoped to have Mariah Carey on the show, but her schedule changed and made it impossible.”

Brandy Settles with Final Crash Victim

Brandy no longer has to go through a civil trial over her December 2006 car crash as the singer has recently settled with the last remaining plaintiff. The last plaintiff standing was the husband of the woman who died in the accident. Brandy has already settled with the couple’s two kids for $300,000 each. She had also settled with the other injured driver, Mallory Ham, back in July. Terms of the latest settlement are being kept under wraps but I think that someone will be leaking that out sooner or later. Or maybe not. Does anyone even still care about this piece of news? I hardly even remember Brandy.

Realizing that her comments about Taylor Swift’s win at the CMAs may have come off as bitchy, Wynonna Judd took to her website to send a message to her fans and to the young country singer. Wynonna said “I understand that my comment about Taylor Swift’s Entertainer of the Year nomination came across as a negative statement. My intent was not to take anything away from her talent and contributions to the country music industry…all of which are truly unprecedented for an artist of ANY age. Taylor is a beautiful, hard working young woman that deserves the success she has had and I support her as an artist and as a woman in the business.”

Janet Jackson on AMAs

The American Music Awards announced via their official Twitter and a TV spot that Janet Jackson will be opening the whole she-bang with an 8-minute medley. The singer has her new greatest hits CD ‘Number Ones’ coming out this coming Tuesday and the AMAs will be airing on November 22 at 8PM on ABC. I cannot wait to see her performance. The last performance that we all saw her in was her tribute to her late brother, the King of Pop, Michael Jackson at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. I wonder if there’s going to be an element in her AMAs performance dedicated to Michael.

Carrie Underwood is the sweetheart of the charts this week. The country singer’s new album ‘Play On’ has sold 318,000 copies which cements Carrie’s position in the number 1 spot on the Billboard album charts this week. This marks the second album of the American Idol alum to hit the top spot in the last two years. Carrie’s album ‘Carnival Ride’ managed to sell 527,000 in its debut week back in 2007. Her latest album’s impressive sales have made Carrie the female artist with the largest amount of sales in a week during 2009. What a week! Congratulations to Carrie for her accomplishments!

Katharine McPhee Lands Thanksgiving Special

The Salt Lake Tribune recently reported that American Idol alum Katharine McPhee recently signed on to the cast of ‘Kaleidoscope’. The singer will star in a Thanksgiving Day special that will bring together “figure skating champions, recording artists, cancer survivors and health advocates to recognize women and the key role they play in the battle against cancer – as patients, caregivers and advocates.” Kat will be joining skaters Scott Hamilton, Kristi Yamaguchi, Nancy Kerrigan and fellow Idol runner up David Archuleta on the special. The special will air on Thanksgiving, November 26 at 4/3C on FOX. Congratulations to Kat for getting a gig.
